Helco Electric works out of 0 Centennial Dr in Peabody, serving electrical jobs across the North Shore and into southern New Hampshire. Just how long the company has been at it is oddly unclear: a 2020 write-up put its history at more than 57 years, while the Better Business Bureau's own file lists 35 years in business — the two don't line up, so the exact founding date is worth asking about rather than assuming. The company's Better Business Bureau file carries an A+ grade, though it is not a BBB-accredited business. On Google, the picture is much thinner: two ratings average out to 3 stars, split as far apart as they can go — one perfect five, one rock-bottom one. That single one-star review, posted this spring, has nothing to do with any electrical job: it calls out one of the company's service vans for aggressive, unsafe driving, unprofessional for a vehicle carrying the business's name. With only two reviews to go on, there isn't enough here to call a pattern either way. Before booking, it's worth asking how long Helco has actually been in business given the conflicting figures, and whether the van flagged this spring is still the one showing up to jobs. The A+ BBB grade suggests a company that hasn't built up a documented history of complaints, but that's a different thing from a deep, verified review record — this one doesn't have one yet. Anyone considering Helco should ask for recent references directly rather than relying on the handful of listings available online.

The driver of van #11 from Helco Electric was driving very aggressively and cutting people off in traffic. It created an unsafe situation on the road and was very unprofessional for a company vehicle. I hope the company addresses this and reminds employees to drive safely and respectfully while representing the business.

Helco Electric & Tommy Carolan are fabulous from initial contact, scheduling, quality of work and pricing, they more than exceeded my expectations.
