Augustine's Home Improvement is a one-man home improvement operation based in Sandwich, MA, run by owner Augustine Lett and hired mainly for kitchen and bathroom remodeling, along with decks, siding, windows, carpentry, and flooring across Cape Cod. The company's own website claims more than 40 years in business, though BBB records list a 2013 start (13 years) and a Barnstable-area listing states the same 13-year figure. BBB shows the business as not accredited but carrying an A+ letter grade, with an alternate registered name, Cleantec Diversified Services Consultants LLC. Homeowners who hired the company in 2016-2018, and again in 2023 and 2024, describe detailed, hands-on work: in a 2018 review, a full chimney rebuild with a new cap, crown, and flue liners after a leaking, deteriorating chimney; in a separate 2018 review, a handcrafted deck replacement and full cedar shingle re-siding as part of a larger exterior renovation; and in 2023 and 2024 Google reviews, a same-day bathroom build completed within 7 days and a kitchen faucet and backsplash job, both praised as high quality and on schedule. Several 2016-2021 HomeAdvisor reviews mention prompt scheduling, quick estimates, and being easy to reach by phone. The record also includes serious complaints worth reading closely before booking. In a 2022 Houzz review, a homeowner alleges the owner took a $35,000 deposit on a $100,000+ exterior project, never completed it, and that a Breach of Contract claim was filed in Barnstable District Court, still pending as of that review. A separate 2022 HomeAdvisor review reports purchased kitchen parts that were never delivered despite about seven months of follow-up, and a 2022 Google review rates the business 1 star with only the word "Unreliable." Older HomeAdvisor reviews add more to weigh: a 2017 review describes a window job that took over four months to start, cost double the original quote, and had a caulking warranty issue that went unresolved after repeated calls and texts, and a 2018 review describes work performed and billed without the homeowner's authorization under an unclearly written contract. Before booking, it's worth asking directly about the outcome of the 2022 court dispute referenced on Houzz, getting a written, itemized contract with a firm price and timeline, and confirming who specifically will be on the crew. For homeowners focused on chimney, deck, window, or bathroom work — the jobs with the most consistent, detailed praise — the 2016-2018 track record and the two most recent 2023-2024 reviews are the strongest evidence of what the company does well.
Augustine and his team did a great job as I built an entire bathroom. The boys turn up promptly every day and complete the work within 7 days. Along with them here, I also did a kitchen faucet and kitchen backsplash, both completed during the day. Augustine stuck to his work ethic and the finished product was nothing short of fantastic. Would you 100% use him again?
Augustine and his crew were polite, considerate, and professional. They did exactly what they said they would do, and they guided us throughout the project, giving great advice. We were on a tight timeline, but they completed the job on time without compromising quality. We were very pleased and satisfied with Augustine and his crew, and we would not hesitate to have them do work for us again. In fact, I'm already talking to him about our next project.
Augustine Lett stole $11,000 from us. On July 30, 2022 we met at our house and executed a contract in excess of 100,000 for exterior work on our house. We also gave him a deposit of $35,000 which he cashed August 9, 2022. In September 2022, Augustine dropped off deck boards to be used in the work. On September 24, 2022, we met again at our house and Augustine said he couldn't do the project for the agreed-upon price. He agreed to refund the difference between the $35,000 deposit and the actual cost of Azek decking he purchased and had delivered to us. He estimated the decking cost $24,000 but agreed to provide a receipt to show the actual amount of the refund. After that, he ghosted us. Emails, calls, and texts were ignored and unreturned. On November 15, 2022 we filed a Breach of Contract claim with the Barnstable District Court. The case is now pending.
i booked a project with this company and paid for everything, told me that they bought kitchen parts he said he had them but did not deliver them, everyday i asked him to be delivered but he never showed up. all i need is my kitchen parts so i can just get somebody to finish the job but this service professional was unable to give it to me. this is about 7 months ago and i don't know why i haven't receive them.
