The job that keeps coming back in Bayside's reviews is a deck — big ones. A West Harwich builder run by Robert Ward, Bayside Build and Remodel takes on custom homes and whole-house renovations, but what customers keep writing about is decking: old ones torn off, much larger ones put on, often with a stone patio, an outdoor shower or a firepit attached. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 202506, is active in the company's own name. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+ and also lists a construction supervisor number, CS-096230, from the state's Office of Public Safety and Inspections — that one is the BBB's listing rather than something confirmed against a registry. The customer accounts are consistent and unusually specific. In March 2026 a Google reviewer described hiring Robert to strip the existing decks and build one across the back of the house, then expanding the job mid-stream to rebuild a patio and stairs. A January 2025 HomeAdvisor customer put a number on it: roughly 420 square feet of new deck, followed by a stone driveway. Another from March 2025 credited him with running the whole project including permits — old deck and outdoor shower out, new deck with lighting, outdoor shower, stone patio and firepit in. A July 2025 Angi reviewer remembered being handed Azek samples to hold against the house paint before choosing, and an April 2025 siding job was described as finished on time and on budget. Angi and HomeAdvisor both show 4.9 from six ratings, but those are the same six accounts mirrored on two sites, not twelve. Two things deserve a direct question. The first is a September 2024 BuildZoom complaint, and it is serious: a customer wrote that the accessory dwelling unit built for her 82-year-old mother went a full year with no proper heat or air conditioning because the mini-split never worked properly. No other source addresses it, and BuildZoom's published 3.0 from two ratings is not a customer average — one of those two entries is Robert Ward's own reply to that complaint. The second is arithmetic. The company's website says it has been building since 1994, over 30 years. The BBB records the corporation as started 6/24/2021 with five years in business, and the Angi profile likewise says five years of experience. Ask which of those numbers describes the entity you would actually be signing with. Bayside is a sensible call for Cape Cod deck, siding and outdoor-living work, where the reviews run deepest and most detailed, and its stated territory covers Chatham through Provincetown and out to Plymouth. If your project involves mechanical systems — an ADU, heating, cooling — name the subcontractors in the contract, get the warranty in writing, and agree up front on what happens if something does not run right.
We hired Robert Ward at Bayside Build and Remodel to remove the existing decks from our property and to build a much larger deck across the back of the house. As work progressed we talked to him about expanding the project to include reconstruction of a patio and stairs along the waterfront. Robert did it all from design, permitting through construction. His work created a new deck and patios which turned out beautifully Robert kept us informed of the project and when we were offsite, he sent us pictures of the progress. He was so easy to work with. He and his crew did a wonderful job. We now have a beautiful deck and patio overlooking the Bass River for our family and friends with us to enjoy for many years to come. From the first contact with Robert, we knew he would be our first choice. He was easy to talk to and answered every question with details. He also provided samples of the Azek decking, which I had previewed online. That made the choice obvious when placed next to our paint. By the end of our conversation, we had an approximate date and price for replacing our entry deck. The project met our expectations and was completed in one day. We would definitely hire Bayside again for any future remodeling.
Robert and his crew did a fantastic job residing my home. Project completed on time and on budget. Wouldn’t hesitate to rehire. Highly recommended.
Robert’s work is excellent. He took care of the entire project which included getting the necessary permits, tearing down the old deck & outdoor shower and putting on a large new deck with lighting, an outdoor shower, stone patio & firepit. We are very pleased with the results!
Yes very knowledge, thorough and professional. The crew was considerate respectful and top notch. I would only use this builder for any project moving forward .
