Bonanno Construction's reviewers keep telling the same kind of story: something else went wrong first, and Bonanno fixed it right. In a 2026 review, a homeowner described the crew rebuilding front walkway steps that a previous contractor had gotten wrong — bad rise and run, mortar that kept failing — into steps built to last. The company's own account, given in a 2017 interview, traces back to a small landscape masonry business its founder started in the 1960s; the current owners, brothers who go by Tino and Bobby, took it over in the late 1990s. Its Woburn base and Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration are both current — the state registry shows that HIC license active under Robert Bonanno. A separate Construction Supervisor license tied to Carmelo Bonanno has lapsed and is now listed by the state as null and void, though it's a different license from the active HIC registration the company operates under today. The work people keep coming back for is patios, retaining walls, stone steps, and walkways — the kind of hardscape projects that show up again and again across Google, Thumbtack, and BBB. A May 2026 review credits Tino's crew with basement work, a walkway and patio rebuild, and a sump-pump pop-up installation, done on time and on budget at what the reviewer called fair pricing. Others, writing across 2023 and 2024, describe restored brick steps, rebuilt fireplaces, and a backyard patio and retaining-wall project they say transformed the space — several mention Tino or Bobby staying personally involved through the job. Google shows a 4.7-star average from 14 ratings and Thumbtack a perfect 5.0 from 10, and building permit records list 44 projects filed since 2012, so the volume behind the praise is real. It isn't spotless: a 2026 Google review reports that someone named Jamie hung up on them, a communication complaint worth asking about directly if it comes up. The BBB lists the company at an A+ rating, though it isn't BBB-accredited. For a stone patio, retaining wall, or set of steps in the Woburn area, Bonanno is a business with decades of that specific work behind it and a licensed principal on file — worth a call, with the Jamie complaint the one thing worth a direct question before signing anything.
“anno Construction in ... So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story. Started as a small landscape masonry company in the 60’s by my dad. Myself and my brother took over in the late 90’s. At this point, we had been strictly masonry for 10 years. We took the company and turned it into a total hardscape outdoor living installer that we are today. ... Has it been a smooth road? Nothing is easy but we have been blessed with a full workload for 30 years. As long as there is work it tends to help overcome any or all obsta”
We’ve used these guys twice now, and are really glad we did both times. Most recently, we had them rebuild front steps up to our walkway that were not made right from the very start, with the wrong rise and run (and bad mortar that kept failing), creating both an awkward feeling when you step up on them, and danger for people who are less able-bodied. The crew did an excellent job fixing the mistakes of others and building steps that will clearly last for many years to come.
Tino is kind, hard working, knowledgable with 50+ years of experiences. He takes a great pride in his work and it shows. He and his crew did an amazing job on my basement, walkway/patio and installation of pop up for sump pump and downspout. They did everything on time and on budget and Everything he did is high quality at fair pricing. No one can beat his quality work at that competitive price. I’m a very happy customer and will definitely hire him again when future needs arises. Thank you Tino!
I would not Recommend Jamie hangs up on clients
Amazing experience working with Bonanno construction (a year ago) to redo a large backyard patio and retaining wall. I talked to multiple companies and Tino was by far the most engaged in having an overall vision for the space, making recommendations I hadn't thought of. Tino and his team were excellent during execution of the project to and were great at communicating throughout and making audibles. They did "attention to detail" things we never would've even thought of. It totally transformed the space. I wish all contractors had this much pride in their work. Strongly recommend
Pleasure to work with Tino Bonanno and his work crew. Was always responsiveness to requests on information and quotes. Would use them again on future projects.
