Bostonian Glass is the South Boston shop people call when glass breaks and a house or storefront can't be left open overnight — a shattered door pane, a window blown out by wind, a break-in early on a Sunday. Gene, the owner-operator, is usually the one who shows up, and customers write about him by name far more often than they write about the company. What they keep describing is how fast he gets there. In a 2025 review, a customer whose friend's Brookline retail store had been broken into texted him a photo and had him on site in 25 minutes. A homeowner writing in February 2026 had already been told by a contractor that two broken panes would be complicated and extensive; Gene agreed to come the next day and fixed both. One customer this July said he replaced a shattered window perfectly and faster than they thought possible. The quieter half of the work is planned: frameless shower doors, mirrors and custom enclosures. A designer with a four-unit project had six shower doors installed in March 2026 and called it an easy, in-and-out job. In a 2022 review, a customer who had collected quotes for three showers chose Bostonian because it could cut the mirrors to fit as well, and a homeowner writing in June 2026 was pleased with the glass and hardware on their own shower. Price comes up often and favorably — in a 2023 review, a repeat customer who had bought both street-facing window panes and shower doors called his prices exceedingly reasonable. A handful of customers describe the same snag, and it is about what happens once a price or a callback is involved. One writing in 2025 rented a car to deliver a window, was quoted a different price on arrival than over text, and said the amount changed again after the window was handed over. A 2024 customer said a newly installed shower door leaked from day one and could not get anyone back to look at it. Another caller that year found him short on the phone and never received the quote he asked for. Nine people have written in the past six months, all of them positive. Google puts the company at 4.3 stars from 44 ratings, and Angi lists 16 years in business. Its BBB file was only opened in April 2026, so there is no BBB rating or accreditation behind it yet. For emergency glass in Boston, or a shower enclosure cut for an awkward bathroom, this is the work customers describe best. Get the price and what it covers in writing before the glass is ordered, and ask how a callback on a leaking door gets scheduled.
We couldn’t believe how fast he came, replaced my shattered window perfectly. Absolute professional would recommend to anyone looking for window repairs.
The reps from Bostonian Glass were attentive and knowledgeable with their product. The turnaround time from the initial deposit to producing the final product was done quickly. My partner and I are pleased with our results. Our shower glass and hardware look great!
Gene was very responsive, friendly and helpful. He advised that he could not personally fix the type of windows we had, pointed us in the right direction, and did not charge for the visit. Highly recommend.
Gene at Bostonian Glass is the kind of person you hope exists when you are in a true emergency. I was prepping a house when a landscaper’s weedwhacker kicked up a pebble and shattered the glass on the door. There was broken glass everywhere, it was a major safety issue, and I was completely in a pinch. I needed it handled immediately. Gene answered the call, showed up that same morning, and honestly saved me. He cleaned everything up, made the area safe, replaced the broken glass with safety glass, and made the door look brand new again. The level of care, urgency, and professionalism was unbelievable. Reliable people are hard to find. Reliable people who show up in an emergency, do beautiful work, and actually care are even harder to find. Gene is one of those rare people. I cannot recommend Bostonian Glass enough. Whether it is glass repair, shower doors, or anything glass-related, Gene is the only person I will call from now on!
Gene is amazing he was helped us at the college for several years! We trust his quality work, and reasonable pricing.
