C.E. Smith Carpentry and Home Improvements is a South Waltham, Massachusetts carpenter customers know simply as Chris — reviewers name him directly in nearly every account of the work. The Better Business Bureau lists the business with an A+ grade and seven years in business as of 2026; Angi's own listing puts it at ten years and a Waltham address, with additions, handyman work and kitchens among its offered services. The clearest picture of the actual work comes from a run of five reviews written between 2018 and 2020. One describes an extensive bathroom leak that turned into a full renovation — carpentry, electrical, plumbing and tiling all handled by Chris — while another describes replacing and tiling a water-damaged bathroom floor and repairing a damaged ceiling. A third goes further afield: rebuilding rotted wood on front steps, a deck and posts, rebuilding a medicine cabinet, and handyman work like painting and light fixtures, with a note to make sure he's supervising if he delegates. Across the board, reviewers call the work clean, on-budget, and reliable, and one specifically credits him with handling the unexpected problems that come up in an old house. Worth knowing: every review on file dates from 2018-2020, so there's no recent account to point to — it's worth asking about current availability and recent work before booking. For an older-house repair or a bathroom job that needs several trades coordinated by one person, the reviewed track record is specific and consistent; just confirm current pricing and timeline directly, since nothing here is recent.

good work, on time, on budget, clean and reliable- I would recommend CE Smith!
We had an extensive leak in our bathroom. Chris did a great job with the renovation. His skills include carpentry, electrical work, plumbing and tiling. I would use him again.
Replaced and tiled water-damaged bathroom floor and repaired damaged ceiling. Professional and versatile. Able to handle the unexpected issues that arise when working on an old house.
Very good carpenter! We've had Chris do a lot of rebuilding of rotted wood areas (front steps, deck and posts, doors) and also rebuild a medicine cabinet, among other handyman projects, e.g., painting (make sure he is supervising his guy if he delegates that) outdoor light fixture, small repairs, etc. I would definitely recommend using this company for these kinds of projects. We will absolutely be calling him for Spring projects.
