Cape & Island Kitchens is a Sagamore Beach cabinetry and remodeling company big enough to run its own in-house crew — design, installation, electrical, plumbing and carpentry all in-house, with a foreman and project managers overseeing jobs rather than farming everything out to subs. That scale shows up across a genuinely deep record: 104 reviews since 2021 across six platforms, currently 4.9★ on Google from 145 ratings and 4.6★ on Houzz from 41. The specific stories carry more weight than the star count. In a 2025 review, a Marstons Mills homeowner singled out finish carpenter Scott Hodges for the crown molding on a full kitchen-and-closet renovation. Another 2025 review describes a burst pipe that "demolished" a kitchen in January — an insurance adjuster recommended designer Tracy Perry, who redesigned the layout and matched replacement cabinets within days. A third, from late 2025, recounts a raccoon chewing through a rubber roof, flooding a kitchen, and John Hurley along with installers Pat and Mike re-installing the damaged island afterward. A 2023 review describes a complete remodel of a kitchen "right down to the studs sub floor." Recent reviews keep the same shape: one homeowner's project came in at exactly the six weeks promised despite losing days to a blizzard, and another describes Kevin fixing a 20-year-old cabinet's broken lazy susan free of charge. Six reviews have landed in the past six months, none negative. It isn't spotless. One 2023 review calls the experience "poor quality" and "all around bad," with no specifics given beyond "buyer beware." The Better Business Bureau lists a B- grade with one complaint on file. And its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, held by Cape & Island Kitchens, Inc., currently shows as expired in the state registry — worth asking about directly, since the volume of recent five-star, detailed reviews suggests the business itself is still very much active. For a kitchen or bath project on the Cape or South Shore, this is a company with real depth of track record and named staff customers keep coming back to by name. Confirm the registration status and get a firm written timeline before signing — the reviews suggest the company usually holds to one, but it's worth having it in writing.
“I can't say enough wonderful things about the whole Cape & Islands Kitchens' operation. From design, to implementation, to completion, the whole process was perfectly streamlined.”
I cannot say enough positive things about Cape and Islands Kitchen. Unlike most others, they have their own dedicated design team, installers, electricians, plumbers, and carpenters. Plus a Forman (Bill) and Sonja and Laurie that oversee the project. They started on time and finished on time. They were easy to communicate with and addressed all our issues promptly. They are good people to work with.
We had Cape & Island Kitchens remodel our kitchen. Winn Fernandes suggested design choices that doubled our storage and were esthetically lovely. The installers were professional, respectful and did a great job! Office staff were friendly and responsive to our needs. We are so happy with our kitchen and happy to have chosen this company.
From inception to completion, our kitchen remodel project exceeded our expectations! The professionalism that each member of the team showed was consistent and reliable. We were told that our project to redo our small kitchen would be between5-6 weeks. They finished exactly in 6 weeks in spite of losing a couple of days due to the blizzard. Each subcontractor(electrician, plumber, and carpenter) showed up on time and worked diligently. Their expertise and skill was evident throughout. The communication was excellent throughout the entire process. We always knew who was coming into our home each day and were given timelines ahead of what was coming in the following week. The price and dates of deposits were clearly delineated so there was no guessing on our part. Our designer, Donna, hit it out of the park! She was so helpful in offering suggestions and assured me that she could turn our outdated kitchen into a gorgeous modern and more functioning space. It is truly a kitchen that we couldn't have imagined. The project manager, Bill, showed up frequently to make sure that all was running smoothly. We can't emphasize enough how great this company has been to work with so if you are thinking of a remodel- don't think twice... just call them. From 2 grateful clients, Melanie & Jake
