Eleven Google ratings averaging 3.5, and the split behind that number is an odd one: the people who actually hired Caswell Mechanical mostly liked the work, while two of its three one-star reviews are about how its trucks get driven. The Newburyport company runs three trades out of 24 Graf Road. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence, 460-SM-B, is active, held of record by Caswell Mechanical Inc. Its own site describes HVAC, plumbing and electrical installation, service and emergency work across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, delivered through what it calls a relationship with Service Logic. BBB grades it A+ without accreditation and dates the corporation to May 2005, with four employees. On the work itself, the reviews that go into detail are warm. In February 2024 a customer with no hot water said the company came right out, and that the reputation for being pricier than others did not match what they were charged. In October 2023 someone who had tried several North Shore electrical firms called Caswell the most professional of them, and moved their plumbing over too after a water heater started leaking. A May 2026 reviewer has been calling the company since moving to Newburyport in 2020. The Town Common reported in 2024 that Caswell Mechanical was among the firms building the First Parish Food Pantry expansion. Two things to weigh. A February 2023 customer, explicitly not disputing the quality of the work, said a job on their incoming water pressure went ahead with no quote first and called it a question of business practice — so get a written estimate before anyone starts. And two one-star reviews, from April 2023 and August 2025, complain about company vehicles being driven badly: tailgating at 80mph in one, running red lights at active crosswalks in downtown Boston in the other. One more thing worth knowing: who you are dealing with is not obvious from outside. BBB names Jeff Caswell as owner of Caswell Mechanical, Inc.; BuildZoom names Jarod Schena as owner of Caswell Mechanical LLC; the website names nobody and points to Service Logic. A reasonable call for a North Shore homeowner who wants heating, plumbing and electrical on one number. Pin the estimate down in writing first.
