Cut Price Pools & Spas is a Swansea, Massachusetts pool and spa retail and service store that's been in the same family since Richard Caruso founded it in 1983 — a date the Better Business Bureau's own records independently confirm. His daughter Kim Carvalho and Dan Carvalho run it today (also doing business as Sun N Fun for installs), and the company says the family now has over 100 years of combined experience in the pool industry. It carries an A+, accredited rating with the BBB, and Google shows 4.4 stars from 227 ratings. The through-line across dozens of reviews from 2024 through this year is the retail staff: Dan, Kim and a saleswoman named Felicia are named again and again for patient, knowledgeable help picking a pool, spa, filter or the right chemicals — one 2026 reviewer has been driving in from Marion since 2020 for the seasonal opening and closing service, and another has been a customer for nearly 25 years. A 2025 review describes the store working with an outside installer to resolve a problem with a new pool to the buyer's satisfaction. Alongside that praise, there's a real, recurring complaint that shows up across several years rather than once: multiple reviewers from 2021 to 2026 describe rude or dismissive treatment on the phone or in the store, unreturned callbacks, and — in a 2025 account — a technician described as disrespectful on a service call. On the product and installation side, a 2026 review describes a Trevi above-ground pool's resin top rails bowing significantly while still under warranty, another 2026 review describes an inground pool installed too far from the existing deck (leaving the homeowner to pay for a deck extension and yard repair), and a 2024 review describes a Bull Frog Spa that stopped holding water about a year after purchase with little follow-up help. A 2023 review separately describes an employee improperly taking a $200 cash payment during an installation — the reviewer says that employee was later fired. Cut Price Pools has built a genuinely long-running local following, especially for its in-store advice and named staff, but the pattern of communication complaints alongside a few real installation and warranty issues is worth asking about directly — get the install scope, deck clearance, and warranty terms in writing before signing.
Great people. Great advice.
Was looking for a positive experience as my pools liner slipped out and i had a small wall washout. I had an upcoming pool party and tensions were already very high. Two guys showed up at my house even after I canceled the consultation days prior and huffed and puffed in my doorbell camera because I didnt answer the door in a split second. Then they invite themselves into my back yard, and dont even feel the need to introduce themselves. After the guy tells me about all of the “big problems” I have with the pool, he says it will have to be taken down and re-built and starts walking away back to his truck to leave. When I proceeded to ask what i needed (im an educated female who was looking for an explanation) he almost bit my head off waving the piece of paper in my face telling me he wrote down everything I need. I received no phone call back in the next few days, so I had to follow up with this lovely store who stated his name was Todd (at least someone knew his name) and that he wasnt going to be able to help me and gave me their contractors Keith phone number. That would have been nice to know that they couldnt help me, but they expect you to read their mind and guess their names. That was one of the the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered. People ranted and raved about this place, hence to why I checked them out. Very rude staff. The contractor was absolutely wonderful, could not believe he was affiliated with this store in any capacity. Will NOT be coming here for any advice unless its Keith!
Maybe try hanging up the phone before you start insulting the customers who spends there money at you store so you can pay your bills, not very professional! As a business owner I know customers can be annoying or people lack a bit of communication but make sure the call ends before talking shit about us thanks
I purchased a Trevi above-ground pool from C.P. Pools because I wanted the peace of mind of buying from a local dealer that would stand behind the products they sell. Unfortunately, when several of my pool's resin top rails developed significant bowing while still under warranty, my experience was very disappointing. I was simply referred to Trevi in Canada and told to handle the warranty claim myself. After opening the warranty claim, I contacted C.P. Pools again and respectfully asked if they could assist by contacting Trevi on my behalf or help expedite the process. As an authorized Trevi dealer, I hoped they could advocate for one of their customers. Instead, I was told they could not get involved, and after my follow-up expressing my concerns, I received no response. I understand that manufacturers establish their own warranty procedures. However, I chose to purchase from a local dealer because I expected support after the sale if warranty issues arose. In my case, I felt completely on my own. The pool itself has been great, but the post-sale customer support from the dealer has fallen well short of my expectations. I hope C.P. Pools will reconsider how they support customers after the sale, because good customer service shouldn't end once the check has cleared. Would NOT recommend purchasing a pool from this Business!
