His own path there is unusual for a local builder: he grew up helping his father with projects in Swampscott, went to Boston College, then spent eight years in Los Angeles as a construction supervisor and project manager on high-end homes in Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, took a construction management certificate at UCLA, and came back to Massachusetts, later working as construction manager at the Essex architecture-and-building firm Carpenter & MacNeille. The company presents itself as a full-service general contractor with a finish-carpentry backbone — it builds its own cabinetry and millwork locally rather than ordering it in, and lists historically accurate restoration among what it does. The permit record backs that up. A November 2023 Marblehead job on Hathaway Road ran $100,350 and covered a kitchen and third-floor bathroom, two more bathroom floors, removal of structural and non-structural first-floor walls, three windows and an exterior door, fireplace prep, and new cabinetry and millwork. Three months earlier, a $102,500 job on Alexander Circle did a kitchen and bathrooms with windows, doors, floor refinishing and finish carpentry. A 2022 job on Willard Lane was a single full bathroom. The customer record is much smaller — two reviews, both from July 2024, both five stars. One described old carpet stripped from stairs, hallway, closets and a bedroom and laminate laid in its place, with a crew member named Joey doing the work and both men keeping the schedule and costs clear. The other described a 20-year-old wooden deck and back stairs rebuilt in composite with the existing structure reinforced, a crew that showed up when it said it would, and a recommendation at the end. Detailed accounts, but only two of them, and nothing written since. Licensing needs one careful paragraph. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration held in the name DANIEL HARVEY, number 137329, has EXPIRED. BuildZoom separately lists a different registration, 191714, as active as of March 2026, held by DRH Builders LLC — the limited company behind the trading name, at the same address and phone. That two-registration pattern is what it looks like when an individual registration lapses after work moves into a company, but it is BuildZoom's record rather than a check we made, so ask which number covers your job and confirm it with the Office of Consumer Affairs before signing.
