DNS Construction is a deck-and-porch builder that homeowners keep hiring for the outdoor structures other contractors won't return calls about. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration (HIC 214338) is registry-verified and active, held under the name DNS Construction LLC. Decks are unmistakably the core of the business. Customers writing in June 2026 describe a rebuilt porch and a 26-year-old cedar deck resurfaced after a fast site visit, and a homeowner in April 2026 describes replaced footings under a two-storey porch. Going further back, the specifics pile up: a 2025 customer detailed nails countersunk, decking and rails sanded by machine and by hand, then power-washed and given two coats of paint without a smudge on the siding; another in 2025 described a second-storey deck with ground stairs that required cutting an entirely new exterior egress door; a 2024 customer had a whole garage rebuilt. Composite and Trex decks, pergolas, pool decks, exterior stairs, framing, drywall and flooring all appear in customers' own words. The crew is named repeatedly and consistently — Guilherme quoting and communicating, Gus doing the carpentry, and Nilson, described as the owner, working on site alongside them. Reviewers across four years single out fast callbacks, competitive quotes, early starts and long days, and a site left tidy each evening; several say the job finished on or ahead of the promised date and inside budget. Two things are worth resolving before you hire. First, where they are actually based: the company's own website says Springfield, MA and that it serves only Connecticut and Massachusetts, while its address of record and directory listing put it at 34 Lafayette St in Marblehead — ask which office would run your job and how far they travel. Second, the licence picture has two records: the active HIC above, and an older general contractor licence numbered 159557 tied to the Marblehead address, which BuildZoom reports expired on 12 May 2020 and re-checked as expired in April 2026. Ask them to walk you through both. One more honest note on the reviews: a June 2026 customer who was pleased with the craftsmanship, and who had a railing fixed promptly months after completion, still said updates were not always as timely or clear as they'd have liked. If you want frequent check-ins, set that expectation in writing at contract stage. They're the right call for a deck, porch, stair or exterior rebuild where the structure matters. Confirm the HIC number against the state registry, get the payment schedule in the contract, and settle the base-location question first.

I had a porch rebuilt by D&S and was very pleased with the overall quality of their work. The craftsmanship was excellent, and the finished product looks great. One thing that could be improved is communication throughout the project, as updates were not always as timely or clear as I would have liked. That being said, the company stood behind their work. A few months after completion, I noticed an issue with one of the railings, and they promptly came back to make the necessary correction. I appreciated their willingness to address the concern and ensure everything was done properly. Overall, I would recommend them for their quality workmanship and commitment to customer satisfaction.

After 26 yrs, my cedar deck needed to be resurfaced. I emailed DNS Construction for pricing and consultation. I was surprised and impressed on how fast they got back to me, set up a site visit, met with me and with their excellent ideas and suggestions on the best way to proceed. They completed the job quickly, professionally and the deck looks amazing. When they were finished, they left the area clean. I highly recommend DNS for any project you are considering. You won't be disappointed!

We had a horrible experience with a water mitigation team. During such a stressful time, DNS was such a welcome and different experience. They helped us rebuild and were incredibly helpful throughout the process, providing valuable insight and thoughtful recommendations. They provided excellent communication and a very comprehensive contract outlining payment timelines. I highly recommend DNS.
