Devaney Plumbing & Heating is a Norwood company owned and operated by Master Plumber Stephen Devaney. The company says it has operated since 1999, serves residential and commercial customers, and handles new and remodeling plumbing and heating work. A detailed 2018 customer account praised Devaney as competent, efficient, responsive, and reasonably priced after he repaired a hazardous boiler problem, while another dated review said the company never returned a call. The written review history is small and dated, with accounts from 2018 and 2020; BBB lists an A+ grade, and BuildZoom reports a 97 score and 155 projects. The state registry lists plumber license 2820-PL-C as expired, despite the company’s self-reported fully licensed status and BuildZoom’s verified-license label. Confirm the current license, insurance, and scope before booking, especially for boiler, gas, or other heating work. Devaney is suited to plumbing and heating repairs, new work, and remodel projects around Norwood and the Metro Boston area. Ask for current licensing documentation, a written estimate, and the expected response time before authorizing work.

Never got a call back
Competent, efficient, responsive, reasonably-priced... What else could I ask for? When the gas company (Nat'l Grid) technicians did not know how to restart an older hot-water boiler heating system after they swapped the gas meter, they called in HomeServe. The HomeServe technicians then damaged the boiler, creating a hazardous situation, including small gas explosions within the boiler, and excess CO emissions. This is a two-family building, and my tenant had no heat in January in New England... I called numerous heating contractors, and Stephen Devaney was the first to respond. He met me at the building within an hour of our call, and immediately diagnosed the problem. He spent several hours repairing and adjusting the boiler, and everything was then working fine. He charged me a very reasonable fee, especially considering this was an emergency call on a weekend. I would not hesitate to recommend him.
