Drain King is a one-thing company: drains and sewers, around the clock. The line is staffed at any hour, and the work runs from a slow bathroom sink to a sewer backing up into a basement, with video inspection and line locating used to find what is actually wrong before anything gets snaked. It is a family business, incorporated in November 1995 and run by David Cioto as president with Brenda Cioto as treasurer. The BBB puts it at 30 years in business, has accredited it since June 2012, and grades it A+ — though the BBB is explicit that customer reviews play no part in that letter. The company works out of Atkinson, New Hampshire, with a second location in Plaistow, and covers the North Shore of Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire; it keeps a separate Haverhill-area number for the Massachusetts side. The customer record is small but uniform in tone. Google shows 4.7 from 14 ratings, and the written accounts on file — spread across a few years rather than recent months — keep circling the same three things: somebody answers, somebody turns up quickly, the clog gets cleared. That consistency is worth something, but a 4.7 built on this few written accounts carries less weight than the same number on a business with a hundred. Two things to pin down before booking. The guarantee is conditional: the BBB profile states a job carries either no guarantee or up to a two-year guarantee, the longer term applying when a de-rooting process is done — so ask in writing which one your job falls under. And nothing on file is recent, so ask what a call-out costs today rather than assuming older pricing still holds. For a middle-of-the-night backup, or a drain nobody else could clear, the 24-hour line is the whole point of them. Confirm the price and the guarantee on the invoice, and — since they operate from over the New Hampshire line — confirm their Massachusetts credentials if the job is on this side of it.
