In a January 2026 review, a household that lost heat overnight in nearly two feet of snow had Cam out quickly to diagnose it, and learned the old machine had many system failures and it was time for a new one. Climate Design Systems works out of Methuen and calls itself a full-service HVAC, plumbing and indoor-air-quality contractor. Its site says the business started in 1946 as Haverhill Sheet Metal, that it now runs more than 150 employees and 75 dispatched service vehicles across northeastern Massachusetts, seacoast New Hampshire and southern Maine, and that its technicians are NATE-certified. Its Massachusetts HVAC licence, 933-SM-B, is active on the state registry; the site also lists NH Gas #GF1508067. The BBB grades the company A+. The jobs customers describe are mostly the big mechanical ones. A December 2025 customer had two heat pump systems installed and was helped to the Mass Save rebate, and wrote that the installer solved an old problem two other companies hadn't. A June 2026 mini-split install drew praise for an on-time crew that noticed the sump pump wasn't working properly while they were in the basement. In November 2023, another household had an old oil burner pulled out, a gas system put in and the pipes replumbed. Jake's name appears in nine of these accounts; Nick, Paul, Cam, Leonard, Evan and Steve turn up in others. Price is where the objections land. A July 2026 reviewer said they paid $175 for a mini-split diagnostic and that the technician opened the unit, looked inside and, without testing anything, told them mice had got to it, there was no way to fix it, and their only options were $21,733.00 for an LG system or $28,447.00 for a Mitsubishi. In a November 2023 review, a customer said they were charged $532.00 for what they put at $50.00 of parts and 20 minutes of labor, and that when they questioned it they were told "tough." A September 2025 reviewer said a new all-in-one unit bought for a tenant took multiple calls to get right and that the technician forgot to connect the drainage, and an October 2024 reviewer said appointments were changed without notifying them. Against that, a December 2025 customer wrote that office manager Nicole took full responsibility for a problem with an employee and saw it through. On r/massachusetts, a 2025 commenter said they had worked with Climate Design Systems for decades, and another that year recommended the company. Google's average sits at 4.3 across 103 ratings. For a furnace that quits in a snowstorm or a compressor that dies in a heat wave, this is a shop with the trucks to get someone to you, and two reviewers describe being walked through repair-versus-replace options without a push. Settle what the diagnostic fee is and what it covers before the visit; if the answer comes back as a full system, ask for the repair option priced beside it and the rebate paperwork in the same quote.
