When a water heater lets go on a Friday night, the name that keeps coming back is Angel. Dynamic Plumbing, Heating & Gas Fitting works out of Somerville and, on Angi's listing, has been at it about fourteen years with emergency service offered. What customers actually wrote about is almost all the emergency end of the trade. A homeowner writing in 2018 called on a Saturday morning about water in the basement; Angel came straight over, found the heater itself was finished rather than just the relief valve, and spent the rest of the afternoon sourcing and fitting a replacement. In 2016 another had someone at the house less than an hour after calling about a leaking hot water heater and was back in service by the end of the day. A 2014 customer described a tankless installation that ran new gas lines and cored a new exhaust cleanly through a concrete foundation with a drill rather than hammering at it — on time, on budget, tax-rebate paperwork handed over. The counterweight is a pattern two customers named in 2014. One wrote that two toilets started failing again days after the work, that he was told he might need whole new toilets when a $15 flush assembly fixed it himself, and that a dire warning about basement flooding pushed him into a further $650 job; his conclusion was that the plumber was "only looking to get additional work". A second customer the same month said the job he was sold was discretionary and he would have been fine leaving it. A third, in August 2014, gave three stars because a promised 25% Angie's List discount never arrived, and a November 2013 reviewer said a quote he was promised for further work never came. Then there's the calendar. Angi and HomeAdvisor both publish 4.8 from the same 31 ratings, but the written accounts run 2013 to 2020 and stop — the newest is January 2020, when a homeowner had a manufacturer flush handle ordered and fitted on a return visit at no charge. A fair call for an emergency water heater or a heating failure around Somerville, particularly if you want someone who picks up after hours. Get the scope and the price in writing before work starts, and ask plainly which items are required and which are recommended.
“Very pleased with the quality of service and quick turnaround time. My wife called a few local plumbing companies, which some didn't even reply back and the other's just gave a runaround. Finally .. I looked up and contacted Dynamic Plumbing. It was after normal business hours so I left the message with our plumbing emergency. Shortly a few moments later, received the call from Angel.”
Angel responded to my call almost immediately. He stopped by that afternoon to assess the job and gave me a quote later that day. He was able to schedule the work within several days after that. While he was here, I asked him to take a look at the toilet, which was not flusing properly. He was able to order a replacement flush handle from the manufacturer at no cost and once it arrived, he came back and installed it for no additional charge. All in all, a very good experience. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again for any plumbing or heating issue and recommend him highly.
Late Friday night, we realized there was water in the basement due to the water heater. At the time, it looked like the relief valve. So I called Angel Saturday morning, and he agreed to come right over and take a look. Once he arrived, he realized it wasn't just the relief valve, and the heater would need to be replaced. He then devoted the rest of the afternoon to obtaining a heater for me and doing the replacement. He was careful, professional, and very safety conscious.
I'd been meaning to find a quality plumber more local to me than the one I'd been using and kept putting it off. Disaster struck yesterday when our hot water heater decided to start leaking water everywhere so in a hurry I decided to focus on "local" and not worry on "quality". Luckily I got both, and fast to boot! I've seen friends of mine go through hot water replacement and it always winds up being a multi-day affair, in this case I had someone at my house less than an hour after I called and by the end of the day we were good to go. Angel pointed out a handful of things surrounding our old heater which also needed improvement, not surprising considering our house predates indoor plumbing and things have just been grafted in here and there over the decades. He even pointed out some electrical work that he recommended we look into having done, again not surprising but it was another sign that he cared about quality and is looking out for his customers. I couldn't have been happier with the whole process and am pleased that I've managed to find a quality, local plumber after all.
Angel was professional from start to finish and did a great job with my tankless hot water heater installation. They removed the old water heater, ran new gas lines and installed a new exhaust through my concrete foundation. Instead of just hammering at my foundation to get the new exhaust in, they used a special drill which did the job cleanly with minimal disturbance to the foundation. Everything was done on time and on budget and there were no surprises. Angel even provided me with the paperwork for my tax rebate. I will certainly use them again.
He is a very nice guys. He is smart, competent, resonable, and professional. He has a real grasp of how to install a furnance. He's a top notch guy. He is extrememely responsive.
