Eagle Hardwood Flooring is Vinny's Dorchester-based crew of what the company calls master craftsmen, doing installation, sanding, refinishing, staining, stair work and custom finishes across Greater Boston. The volume of praise here is substantial — 178 reviews from 2021 through 2026, nearly all five stars, with recurring themes: daily photo and video updates during a job, finishing ahead of schedule, and taking on difficult refinishing work other contractors botched or gave up on. A 2025 review describes Vinny bringing four antique floors in an 1805 farmhouse back to life; another from the same year describes rescuing a birch floor a previous contractor had messed up. A May 2025 review describes him returning weeks after a job to fix damage movers caused to freshly finished floors, without apparent extra prompting. Realtors and repeat customers show up throughout the history — one describes Vinny as a go-to partner for prepping homes before a listing, another calls him the standard other flooring contractors are measured against. The one thing worth knowing before booking: a July 2026 review describes a job that began two months earlier and was never finished, with the customer saying Vinny confirmed a completion date and then stopped responding to texts, voicemail and email. It's a sharp departure from the otherwise consistent record of finishing on time, and it's recent enough to ask about directly — particularly whether it reflects a one-off scheduling conflict or a broader capacity issue given how busy the crew clearly is. For hardwood installation, refinishing or repair in the Boston area, Eagle's volume and consistency of praise is hard to match — but given the unresolved July 2026 complaint, it's worth confirming current availability and getting a firm completion date in writing before signing on.
Eagle Hardwood Flooring's Vinny and his team did not complete the job that they began 2 months ago at our house. Vinny confirmed that he would come to complete the job on 6/30, but has since ghosted us, not responding to text, voicemail, or email. We hope to be able to update our rating and review when the job has been completed. We first reached out to Vinny in April 2026 for a quote on 2nd floor installation and oil based poly and first floor sanding and poly on red oak floors in a house we were purchasing. Vinny's quote was priced fairly, and in the beginning he communicated well. We started running into red flags part way through the job. On 5/1, we were asked to pay for labor ahead of schedule because of a "family emergency," which we did willingly. On 5/5 Vinny informed us that he had mis-measured and required more money to purchase six additional boxes of wood. The amount that Vinny requested changed several times as we attempted to clarify using the difference in flooring space from his original measurement multiplied by material costs. This was concerning, but we sent the additional money Vinny requested to cover the cost of the additional flooring. On 5/11, Vinny reported that he had finished the job and sent photos to verify. He requested final payment that day, which we sent based on his photos. We were not able to check out the floors in person until 5/15. The newly installed upstairs floors looked beautiful, as did one large refinished room downstairs. To his credit, Vinny had sanded the subfloor upstairs to ensure proper installation and screwed it down in places to ensure it would not squeak. Our two stars instead of one reflect this portion of the job. Unfortunately, two downstairs rooms and two downstairs hallways appeared to have not received the three total coats of oil based polyurethane that we had agreed to and paid for. We first noticed this in one of the hallways on which there was clearly an additional layer of poly on the outside edges and on the room beyond the hallway that the main middle portion of the hallway did not receive. In photos (included) there is a clear line between the outside areas and change in glossiness/texture between the hall and the room beyond it. The additional hall and two additional rooms were in lower lighting situations, but still appear scuffed (photo included) instead of the smooth satiny finish that the newly installed upstairs and remaining refinished downstairs room all showed. Vinny would not come to our home to see our concerns in person, but assured us he would come in 6/30 to complete the job. As a result, we delayed moving furniture into most of the downstairs of our new home, waiting for Vinny to come while we were able to be away from home. With young kids, this has been very inconvenient, and now it appears Vinny has no intention of finishing the job at all. Vinny seems like a genuinely nice guy who takes pride in his work. We want to support his small business. To that end, we have reached out many times to try to rectify this situation and are hopeful that we will be able to update our review, photos, and rating once the job is complete.
Vinny was professional and was able to complete the job effectively. I needed two bedroom and the living room done which took about 3-5 days. He also patiently answered all my questions and concerns and guarantees the quality of the work. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Excellent work! Everything was done in a professional and timely manner, Vinny kept me updated with his progress with pictures/video, would definitely recommend.
We hired Eagle Hardwood Flooring to convert several rooms from carpet to red oak as well as to refinish the common areas of the house (including oak stairs and handrails) that had an older polyethylene finish. We thought it still looked pretty good, but seeing the new finish against the old - you wouldn’t believe how much better the new finish looks. The old began to look really old. It’s a family business, and all are talented, friendly and incredibly hard working. I highly recommend Eagle Hardwood Flooring. The owner and main contact Vinny wants every job to be a masterpiece, and that’s what we got. Whether your project is a large and complicated one like ours or a single room you want refinished or installed new, give Vinny a call.
Vinny do great work for us. Good price and A+ work. I will use him for all flooring jobs.
