We had an outstanding experience working with Garrett Federow on our custom home build in a Massachusetts suburb. Building our new home started as a dream and became a reality after 2 years, thanks to Federow Development. Our build took 13 months from demolition to move in and Garrett was an integral, reliable, and trustworthy partner and leader during this process. Here are a few highlights about working with Garrett: (1). Fee structure. The fee structure is clear and transparent, and avoids incentives to the builder to elevate construction costs. (2) Integrity. Garrett and his team have the highest integrity. He wants to build a great product that his customers will love. I felt that Garrett had our best interest in mind behind each decision. He stands by his work and his word. (3). Communication. Garrett communicates well and in a timely manner. He listened to and understood what was important to us, which was an energy efficient home. He adapted our build to meet our specific needs, including staggered walls, foam insulation beneath basement concrete, solar, and geothermal. As a result, we achieved a -1 HERS rating. (4). Subcontractors. Garrett has built relationships with subcontractors who provide high quality work and are dependable. (5). Quality. Garrett is knowledgeable and pays attention to detail. After living in our new home for several months, we are very pleased with the quality of the construction. I am grateful that Garrett & his team built our home and without a doubt we would go him again. We also feel that we gained a friend who has gone above and beyond on several occasions. Some examples: when my dog went missing, Garrett spent a couple of hours looking for her until she was found. When I was having electrical issues with my vehicle, Garrett came over, analyzed the situation, found the problem, and corrected it, which took a few hours.

We hired Federow Development to take over our custom-build in Needham in the middle of construction, after our first contractor went out of business. The deck was stacked against Garrett and his team… it was not a straight-forward design, the crews had been inactive for two months, and there were groundwater issues with the site. Yet Garrett exceeded our expectations and completed the build nearly on-time to the original schedule, and within budget. He worked closely with the architect to ensure every element of the house was just right, and he also welcomed our frequent visits to the site to provide our own input and guidance – one of our fond memories was Garrett and his team welcoming us and a friend on a lunch break around our future kitchen island (just a plywood table at the time). He even solved the nasty groundwater problem by designing and installing an intricate drainage system – we have not had a drop of water in the basement since moving in. Through the process, he won our trust and friendship. We cannot recommend Garrett highly enough for what he built for us… a beautiful home that we take immense pride in every day.

Garrett @Federow Development came recommended to us from a friend for our basement renovation. He was building the house at the end of our street and also lives in Needham so I was confident in selecting him. His estimate was very fair and he started/completed all work according to schedule. We had a good idea of what we wanted, but offered suggestions that I'm glad we listened to. The quality of work and responsiveness throughout the project was excellent.
