Fraser Engineering has been working Massachusetts plant rooms since 1950, and three generations on, the Fraser women run it. Contractor Magazine profiled Cecelia (C.J.) and Shawna Fraser in 2010, on the firm's 60th anniversary; today the company calls itself a certified women-owned business in its third generation, based in Franklin with a long-standing Newton address. The work is industrial and commercial, not residential. Boilers, chillers, cooling towers and rooftop units; process and utility piping for gas and chemical systems; industrial controls; and a prefabrication shop, staffed by licensed plumbers, pipefitters, welders and HVAC technicians. Its Procore profile lists 16 projects averaging roughly $11.6 million apiece — the scale of a hospital plant room, not a house. Not many customers have written about them. Thirteen Google ratings average 4.4, and only three left words. In September 2025 one described Fraser untangling a complicated heating system in Brookline for them and their clients, and told others to call. A month later another said the crew shows up on time at their facilities. Back in 2022, a customer called the work timely and professional from the first phone call through to the bill, and the price reasonable. Two items sit in the public file, and neither is quite what it first looks like. Safetyrecord.org reports five OSHA inspections of Fraser Engineering Co., Inc. going back to 1993, producing six violations and $1,700 in penalties — small sums across a long span. And in a federal case in New Hampshire, Fraser was the plaintiff: it alleged that a general contractor and a building owner wrongfully withheld payment for mechanical and plumbing subcontract work it had already performed. A payment fight, not a complaint about the workmanship. For a furnace tune-up at home, look elsewhere — nothing here describes residential service.
