On a very hot day this May, a homeowner with elderly parents visiting found the air conditioning had quietly died over the winter. Another company had already been out that morning and could not fix it. Jay Gervais was at the house in under an hour. That is the story Andover customers keep telling about Gervais Heating and A/C: the call gets returned and someone is there the same day. One homeowner whose heat went out said Gervais was the only company that offered to come out that day. Another's air conditioning failed during a heat wave and he was there within 24 hours and had it running before he left. In the middle of winter, when a set of mini-splits quit with temperatures in the teens, he ran ductwork from a basement furnace up to a second-floor apartment and put in five registers. The company works out of Andover and says it is family owned with more than 25 years behind it, covering Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury, Reading and Dracut. The jobs run from tune-ups and emergency repairs to full installs — central air, furnaces, hot water tanks, and one conversion from two aging air conditioning units to a single two-zone high-efficiency system — at homes and small businesses alike. Jay works with a crew, but he is the one who picks up the phone, and customers write about him by name rather than about the company. Price is the other thing customers raise without being asked. A homeowner replacing a water heater said his quote came in well under the big companies they had priced. Another, who has used him for seven years across a home and a business, called his prices extremely reasonable next to other quotes. One wrote that he points people to the cheapest workable option rather than the most profitable one; another said that when a job is outside what he does, he hands over the name of someone who can do it. One thing about the ratings themselves: all 35 Google ratings are five stars, and all of them were posted in 2026, most within a few days in early April — while the reviewers describe relationships going back years, and one says outright that a review they left years ago no longer seems to be there. If you need heat or cooling working today in the Merrimack Valley, this is a small outfit built for exactly that. For a full system replacement, get the equipment model, the sizing and the warranty terms written into the quote before the install date is set.
Jay and his colleague came over on this very hot day while my elderly parents were in town and the AC had somehow stopped working over the winter. I already had someone else out earlier in the day and they could not fix the issue. Jay came out in less than an hour, which is amazing given his schedule, found the issue, fixed it, and gave me some general guidance on some related topics. Two hours later my house is noticeably more comfortable and I couldn’t be more grateful. Highly recommended!
The best of the best. Don't look elsewhere for your A/C needs. Jay is responsive, fast, honest, and does excellent work.

Jay is the only company we use for ALL HVAC needs. He is professional, local, honest, funny and has the best prices! He has done a lot of work in our home from emergency calls to new unit installations! He came highly recommended from several Andover families and he has been our guy from that first phone call!
