Thirty-three people have reviewed Gervais Heating and A/C on Google, and not one left less than five stars. The through-line in nearly all of them is a first name: Jay — Jason on some reviews — the person who actually shows up. The Andover company says on its own site that it is family owned and locally operated with more than 25 years behind it, working Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury, Reading and Dracut. What people call about is heat or cooling that has just quit. One customer wrote that Jay arrived in under an hour on a hot day after another company had already failed to fix the AC, found the fault, and had the house noticeably more comfortable two hours later. Another described mini-splits going down in teens-degree temperatures, and Jay running ductwork from a basement furnace up to a second-floor apartment with five registers. Installation work runs alongside the emergency calls. A central AC job finished on schedule and, in the customer's words, meticulously; an old two-unit system converted to a two-zone high-efficiency setup, with the house left clean; a new water heater that one homeowner said priced well under quotes from the bigger companies. Money comes up constantly in these reviews — several describe him pointing them toward the cheaper option rather than the more profitable one. Two things are worth weighing before you call. Nearly all of these reviews landed inside a single week in early April 2026, so the history reads as one burst rather than years of steady accumulation — though several of those writers say they have used him a long time, one for more than seven years across a home and a business, another for sixteen. And the 25 years, the family ownership, and the five-town service area all come from the company's own website, so treat them as its claim and ask directly. The other thing to notice is how personal the operation sounds. Reviewers name one man on almost every job, with references to his employees and "the Gervais crew" around the edges. That is why the response times read the way they do, and it is also the question to ask if you are booking a full system replacement rather than a service call. For a no-heat night in the Merrimack Valley or an AC that dies in a heat wave, this is a small, owner-led shop built for exactly that call. Pin down who will be on site and what the scope covers before the work starts.

Jay and his colleague came over on this very hot day while my elderly parents were in town and the AC had somehow stopped working over the winter. I already had someone else out earlier in the day and they could not fix the issue. Jay came out in less than an hour, which is amazing given his schedule, found the issue, fixed it, and gave me some general guidance on some related topics. Two hours later my house is noticeably more comfortable and I couldn’t be more grateful. Highly recommended!

Jay is the only company we use for ALL HVAC needs. He is professional, local, honest, funny and has the best prices! He has done a lot of work in our home from emergency calls to new unit installations! He came highly recommended from several Andover families and he has been our guy from that first phone call!
