Grant Associates is Rob Grant working solo out of Waltham, called in for the jobs that don't fit neatly into one trade — a storm door that needs hanging, a run of rotted exterior trim, a bathroom fixture that's finally given out. The company says it has covered the Weston, Wellesley and Wayland area since Rob started it in 2020, after years of hands-on remodeling and construction work before that. Reviewers keep coming back to the same thing: he explains the work as he goes. In a review from March 2026, one homeowner recalls Rob walking them through a bathroom remodel phase by phase; a 2023 review says that when a job ran past the original estimate, he stopped to explain why before continuing. An older 2023 review describes a bigger call from 2019 — a wasp nest had chewed through a closet ceiling, and the same visit also covered rotted trim, a warped porch step and damaged siding, all handled by the same person in one engagement. The more recent work leans toward doors: a custom storm door installed this spring earned praise for the finish and follow-through, and a french door install described in a 2023 review is remembered for the custom fitting it took to make the door sit right in an odd opening. All nine reviews on file, split between Google and Thumbtack from 2023 through 2026, rate the work five stars. One thing worth confirming before booking: the Massachusetts home improvement registration (#200348) is active on the state registry, but BuildZoom's own listing shows the same number marked inactive on a separate entry — a quick call should clear that up. Rob also carries a Construction Supervisor license (#CS-114330) per Thumbtack and BuildZoom, not checked against the state board here. For a door install, an exterior repair, or a smaller bathroom fixture job, Grant Associates is a reasonable call — just confirm current availability, since it's a one-person shop.
Grant Associates installed a custom storm door and the workmanship, communication and overall experiance were great.
Grant has done considerable work on our home, including remodeling a bathroom. We are very happy with everything he has done. He is thorough, punctual, and excellent at consulting us through all phases of each project. I highly recommend Grant!
We were very pleased with the workmanship that was done with each and every project that was completed. All work was excellent and was done on time! Will spread the word to family, friends and neighbors!
Rob Grant completed a small bathroom remodel in my Cambridge condo over a couple of weeks in Dec 2022. The work involved replacement and adjustment of bathroom fixtures (shower, lights, overhead fan). Post-installation finishing work included matching existing paint and replacing portions of drywall. He completed the work very efficiently. Everything works perfectly and looks great. He provided advice on job details that minimized the costs and extent of the renovation, and managed all aspects of materials selection, purchase, pick-up and installation without additional workers. He communicated all aspects of the work clearly and performed all work according to planned schedule and budget, with minimal noise and clean-up (critical for work within a larger condo building). He is easy to work with and took care to understand the details of the fixtures, including use of the color adjustment on the new LED lights to match existing fixtures. Rob has a broad-based background for remodeling projects and I recommend considering him for any scope of work that can be managed and performed solely by him, or with the help of a small crew under his direction.
