Hometown Heating & Cooling LLC holds a 4.9-star Google rating from 111 ratings. The company describes itself as a family-owned HVAC business serving the Farmington Valley and Hartford County, says it has more than 20 years of field experience, and its website lists 24/7 emergency service. One recent customer said three of four companies that looked at a 31-year-old cast iron boiler said a chimney liner was needed or were not sure. Matt said it was not needed with the Peerless boiler going in, and the town told the customer Matt was correct. That customer said Matt and Dave did the install in a full day, and Matt came back a few days later to replace a cracked wood step and three others. A customer with a leaking pressure valve said the company gave an estimate on the phone, came the next day, and the final cost came in lower than the estimate. A customer whose furnace was spraying soot said Matt came out the same week and cleaned out a clog. A customer who bought a house needing upgrades said the company installed a whole home humidifier, a water heater, a heat pump and a new Roth oil tank. A 2026 customer said another local company quoted $2000 to repair or $8000 to replace an 8-year-old air conditioner, and Dave fixed it in less than an hour for $150. A 2026 customer said Tim showed up when the furnace quit during a storm and solved the problem within an hour. Its Connecticut heating and cooling licence, HTG.0402683-S1, held under the name Hometown Heating & Cooling, is active on the state registry. A 2025 customer said two voicemails and an email went unanswered.
Dave came today for a scheduled appointment to perform a check-up on our furnace. It was a very positive experience. He was on time, professional and answered all of our questions. Due to the high cost of fuel oil, we are considering installing a ductless mini-split system for heating and cooling certain zones in our house. Dave talked to us about the various options for locating the system components, operation, rebates and warranties. We are looking forward to receiving their free estimate. We have already scheduled next year's furnace check-up with Hometown Heating & Cooling.
Hometown Heating and Cooling are quick with a response, on time to appointments, personable and professional! Highly recommend them!
Found my "go to" furnace company! Arrived Although not an emergency, I needed a repair for a leaking pressure valve. They provided an estimate for the furnace repair on the phone and were able to come the next day. Tim explained the repairs and completed the job quickly. Final cost came in lower than the estimate. Professional, expert service, honest, fair and reliable. Updating review to share another positive experience with furnace cleaning! Hometown found that prior furnace cleaning by another company was not thorough. Hometown cleaning included inspection and clean out of elbow and 4’ of liner flu. Also discussed options for lowering heating costs
I had 4 different companies come out to look at my 31yo cast iron boiler. Most of the companies just wanted to sell me the boiler they got the best price on. There are a number of boiler manufacturers, not just 2 or 3. Three out of 4 companies told me I needed to get a chimney liner if I replaced the boiler or were not sure if needed to. Two were certain I did. ( a chimney liner would have cost another $2500-$5000 I believe.) Matt at Hometown Heating and Cooling was different. He came out and told me I did not need a chimney liner with the Peerless Boiler I was going to install. I checked with the town and they said, "Matt was correct." He compared the Boilers others wanted to sell me and gave me options. He told me my Indirect Water Heater was still good and did not need to be replaced. ( Another savings of 3-4K.) We even discussed switching to Natural Gas. I was also concerned How they were going to get my 500-600 lb old boiler out and the new one In.....One company told me they..."have a lot of guys to lift it." Matt said he would get it in via a ramp.....That sounded better and safer to me. The boiler was going to have to go out and come in via a basement walk-out. On install date, Matt and Dave were on time and very pleasant. He put down a covering to protect our rec-room floor and they schlepped in lots of copper pipe and fittings. The old boiler left via the ramp and the new one came in the same way. No problem. Just the two of them. The install took a full day. Neat and clean and tidy. My 4 walk out steps were not used to such traffic and weight. One of the wood steps cracked. Matt came back and replaced it and 3 others a few days later. Now that's service!! :) I would highly recommend Matt and Dave for your heating and cooling needs. They provide good old customer service at a fair price. He was definitely worth the price in peace of mind and quality. I also liked the fact that Matt came out to do the Estimate and the Install. Thank you again.
