HydroTech Co. works out of 121 Hancock Street in Braintree and, by its own account, designs, builds, installs and services swimming pools, hot tubs, spas and water features for both homeowners and commercial clients. The Better Business Bureau lists the business as started in 1987, run by owner Frank Marino with four employees, filed under Pool Maintenance and carrying an A+ grade, though it is not BBB accredited. What the company says it handles spans both ends of the pool trade. Its Houzz profile advertises swimming pool construction, pool design and custom spa construction; its BBB listing adds gunite pools, hot tubs, saunas, fountains, custom water features and pool and spa chemicals; and its claimed Procore profile presents it as a general contractor covering concrete, masonry, demolition and pool and fountain plumbing systems across residential, commercial, healthcare and institutional work. The people who have actually hired them describe ongoing service more than one-off builds, and they name the crew. A homeowner who first wrote in 2023 and updated the same review in June 2026 said the pool always looks sparkling after Matt opens it, that Mike always responds promptly, and that owner Frank is kind and reliable and Brian is good to deal with. In a 2025 review, a customer of several years wrote that other pool companies had no idea how to operate or maintain their pool and spa system, that HydroTech goes above and beyond until an issue is resolved, and singled out a technician named Coleman for repeatedly coming back. A 2022 reviewer new to owning an in-ground pool said Frank and his team took the time to explain the options and answer their many questions before a big decision. The record is not uniformly good, and the gap is the main thing to weigh. Google's own headline figure is 3 stars across 14 ratings — well below the tone of the written comments, three of which are five-star — and a 2024 reviewer left one star with nothing but "Horrible service." The written history is also shallow for a company of this age: four reviews spread across 2022 to 2025. HydroTech is a plausible call for South Shore and Boston-area homeowners who want one outfit to open, maintain and troubleshoot a pool or spa system, particularly one whose equipment has stumped other companies. Before booking, ask directly about the difference between the 3-star Google average and the reviews you can read, and ask for recent references for the specific job you need — seasonal service, an equipment repair, or new construction are quite different asks.
