Nine years of reviews for IHS Building and Remodeling name the same two people over and over: Richard Peckham Jr., who runs the Hyannis company, and Hanna, who handles the office side. What Cape Cod homeowners hire them for is the big stuff — gut renovations, kitchens, baths, basement build-outs and additions. The company says it has worked the Cape since 2002, originally as Integrity Home Solutions; its BBB page dates the corporation to a December 2017 incorporation and carries that earlier name as an alternate. Angi shows 4.9 stars from 44 ratings and Google 4.6 from 10, and the accounts behind those numbers are unusually specific. A 2019 reviewer had a roof done in the heat of summer 2018, said the crew showed up on time and didn't go over the estimate, and had them back for second-floor windows — "clean, prompt, friendly and moreover trustworthy." In 2021 a homeowner looking to build out a basement found the company through a Yelp search and got a reply in under 24 hours. A 2022 reviewer had the entryway to their garage and the steps to their mudroom reworked to be safer and better looking. The newest accounts, from May and July 2026, come from a gut renovation and from someone who says they have worked closely with the company for years and rates its pre-construction planning through to finishing touches. There is a paper trail behind that: its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active and held in the company's own name, BuildZoom counts 19 permitted Cape Cod projects between 2018 and 2024, and its BBB grade is an A+, though the business is not BBB-accredited. Two things are worth raising before calling. The detailed accounts skew old — a large share of the written reviews run from 2017 to 2019, so the fine-grained picture of how a job goes is largely a picture of that stretch. And a one-star Angi review from 2017 described a project that started well, then hit a delay when the plumber lined up for it couldn't do the job and a replacement proved hard to find. It's specific enough to be worth asking about, particularly since BBB lists a single employee and reviewers describe a crew and subcontractors doing the work. BuildZoom also lists a construction supervisor licence, #094193, that it says it did not itself verify and that showed a July 2025 expiration date when last checked. If you're planning a kitchen, bath, basement or addition on the Cape and want someone who will work through the design with you before anything is torn out, this is a well-documented choice. Ask for current copies of both licences and the insurance certificates, and get the subcontractor schedule in writing before you sign.
“We recently had an “old school” original 1970’s Cape Cod kitchen fully remodeled including adding a slider. Richard did a great job from planning and design (shout out to Hanna on this), to demo, to install, to finish work. Richard was on time, reliable, and not your typical Cape contractor. Super clean at all times and was able to work with us on various hiccups/unexpected stuff along the way.”
My wife and I can’t recommend Richard and Hanna of IHS highly enough. They performed a gut renovation and transformed our home beautifully. The biggest thing for us was the trust factor. You can trust IHS with your most valued asset and I assure you they’ll deliver. 5 Stars!!!

After years of working closely with IHS Building we cannot recommend them enough. Rich and Hanna are the team to get your project completed. From their pre-construction planning to finishing touches on projects, their attention to detail is unmatched for the entire process. IHS completes new construction builds, full remodeling, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, and more, their range is perfect for any project. As contractors ourselves; we are extremely impressed with their dedication to their customers. They care about doing things correctly and doing right by their clients.
We recently had an “old school” original 1970’s Cape Cod kitchen fully remodeled including adding a slider. Super clean at all times and was able to work with us on various hiccups/unexpected stuff along the way. He explained options and the pros and cons of each possible choice. He never upcharged us (unless we asked for something) and was exactly on budget. Very happy with his work and would definitely recommend. We will likely call on him again for our next project.
My wife and I badly needed a bathroom renovation and after reading IHS reviews decided to give Richard a call. We’re very happy we did . The work was done with care and concentration to detail . Hanna and Richard were always available when we had questions. A day doesn’t go by when I tell my wife how much I love our newly renovated bathroom. When we have another project that needs to be done we intend on contacting IHS again.
