Four customers writing in the second half of 2017 were already on their second or third job with Richard Peckham Jr.: two bathrooms, cherry hardwood floors and new windows for one of them; a Provincetown condo kitchen and bath in 2016, then a Centerville home, for another. A May 2026 reviewer put it the same way, after years of working closely with IHS Building.
IHS Building and Remodeling runs out of Hyannis and works across Cape Cod — kitchens, bathrooms, basement build-outs, additions, exterior work and custom builds, with design, permitting and project coordination in the same hands. The company says it has been at this since 2002 under the earlier name Integrity Home Solutions, the name three 2017 reviewers used; its Better Business Bureau profile, graded A+, lists an incorporation date of 12/28/2017, one employee, and Richard Peckham Jr. as president.
Hanna Piarfilava, the office manager on BuildZoom's profile, is named in ten of the twenty-five written reviews, almost always for the planning and the answering. In a January 2025 Angi review, a 1970s Cape kitchen went from planning and design — a shout-out to Hanna there — through demo, install and finish work, with a slider added. A November 2023 customer wrote that Hanna and Richard sat down with them before anything started to talk through what they wanted for the house. Angi shows 4.9 across 44 ratings; Google 4.6 across ten.
An April 2018 reviewer contracted in September for work that began after Thanksgiving, with the house empty for the winter, and described phone calls, texts and photo updates the whole way. An April 2019 reviewer had a roof done through the hottest days of the summer of 2018, and second-floor windows going in as they wrote. A December 2021 Angi reviewer's entire verdict: keeps subcontractors under control.
That is also where the one-star review starts. In an August 2017 Angi review, a customer wrote that everything went well at first — Richard was kind, punctual and helpful — and that about halfway through, his plumber could not do the job and he tried to find a new one. The trades come from outside a one-employee company, so ask who they are and what happens if one drops out.
Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #190612, is active on the state register in the company's name. A construction supervisor licence numbered 094193 shows up on the company's own site and on its Houzz and BuildZoom listings; check that one on the state register before permitted work begins. BuildZoom counts 19 permitted projects across Cape Cod towns from 2018 to 2024, general liability cover to $1,000,000 and workers' compensation to $500,000.
For a Cape homeowner planning a kitchen, a bath or a whole-house renovation who wants the same two people from the first sketch to the last coat, this is a good fit. Settle the subcontractor question and the schedule before the contract is signed.
