Lumber Cats

Lumber Cats is a custom carpentry and woodworking business based in Somerville, Massachusetts, run by owner Tim Lorenzo, who holds both a Massachusetts construction supervisor license and a home improvement contractor license, each verified active by the state registry. The company describes itself as a small team of craftspeople focused on custom woodwork — kitchen designs, custom cabinetry, built-in furniture, and pieces like cube-frame shelving units and cherry conversation furniture. The public record here is thin and mixed. A 2019 LinkedIn recommendation called Tim 'a phenomenal carpenter' and a 'top-notch finish carpenter' in the greater Boston area, and a 2021 Houzz review from a design collaborator praised his creative problem-solving and responsiveness. But a more recent 2024 Houzz review said communication was poor and advised choosing a different contractor — a notably different tone from the earlier praise. With only two reviews on file and directly conflicting feedback on communication, anyone considering Lumber Cats should ask for recent references and get clear expectations in writing about response times before booking.
