Lumber Cats is a Somerville carpentry and remodeling shop run by Tim Lorenzo, working out of 49 Rogers Ave. Both of its Massachusetts credentials check out against the state registry: Construction Supervisor licence CS-121751 and home improvement contractor registration 200294 are each active and each held in Lorenzo's own name. The work it shows is custom woodwork rather than volume remodeling — cherry conversation chairs and a table, custom cabinetry, kitchens, a laundry room, a bedroom — across eight project albums, with typical job costs given as $35,000 to $250,000. Its own description is "a team of skilled crafts people dedicated to creating beautiful, unique spaces", with "a passion for custom woodwork and a commitment to prioritizing one project at a time". The published feedback is small and it points both ways. An interior designer wrote in September 2021 that Tim "engaged in the design and came up with creative solutions when we ran into little problems on the project" and was responsive to both client and designer; a carpenter's recommendation from 2019 called him "a top notch finish carpenter in the greater Boston area". Against that, a one-star review in October 2024 said communication was not good and advised going elsewhere. Two reviews average 3.0 on Houzz. With a record this thin, the sensible move is to weigh the specific complaint directly: ask who your point of contact will be, how often you will hear from them, and whether the one-project-at-a-time commitment means yours will wait for a slot.
