MacFarlane Horan Oil delivers heating oil and installs and services heating and air-conditioning equipment, including boilers, furnaces and hot-water heaters, from Stoughton, Massachusetts, according to its website. In a 2022 review, a customer whose boiler was actively flooding the basement said Horan Oil sent Brian in less than 30 minutes, and he was able to fix and save the very old boiler. The website says the business has been family owned and operated since 1936. Its BBB page profiles Horan Oil Corp. as a heating and air-conditioning home-comfort provider with 90 years in business and carries an A+ grade. In a 2021 review, a customer said their oil burner started making very loud clanking noises, and the company was there within two hours and fixed the problem. A 2021 reviewer wrote that they came out right away for a water heater problem and corrected it at a reasonable cost. In a 2025 review, a customer said Cameron Lucci explained everything thoroughly and answered all their questions. A 2023 reviewer who was first unhappy over a misunderstanding about the work performed said the owner personally called to explain. In a 2025 review, a customer of seven years said they spent four hours clearing an iced driveway after a note from the delivery driver, then were told on several straight days that the driver would be out that day; he never showed, and the family ran out of oil. That 2025 customer later wrote that the oil was finally delivered, but with still no explanation for why they had been told it was out for delivery. A 2025 reviewer objected to an oil fill at 6:35am on a Sunday that woke their baby and entire family. In a 2026 review, a reviewer said a company driver almost ran them off the road and then stuck his tongue out at them.
“MacFarlane but they travel all over southcoast”
Their drivers are inconsiderate and don’t know how to drive almost ran me off the road and then stuck his tongue out at me….. great look for the company. He then tried to catch up to me just to almost intimidate me….
Filling oil at 6:35am on a Sunday is completely inconsiderate. Woke my baby and entire family. Not sure what happened to this place since they merged with McFarlane.
Cameron Lucci was excellent. He explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. He was also very polite, and I was happy with his expertise and his experience. sincerely, Charlotte Steeves
I never leave bad review on google but this situation is so frustrating I have to comment. Note I have been a Horan oil customers 7 years and never had an issue. We were away a few days during the last snow storm. When my family and I got home there was a note in the mailbox from oil delivery guy asking to de-ice driveway which was understandable as it was pretty well iced over since we weren’t home. Next morning on the Wednesday I spend 4 hours breaking up ice and salting the driveway. All clear. I contact Horan Oil and they say driver will be out that day. He never shows up. I call next day. Same thing, they say he will be there today, never shows up. I call next day same thing. It’s Saturday I called they said samething and again no delivery. It’s Sunday and we have run out of oil. I have two little kids in the house and one is special needs. This is ridiculous. I have no idea why they keep lying. Just tell me what’s going on. Never experienced anything like this before. Horrible experience. Update : changed to 3 stars as oil was finally delivered but still no explanation on why CS said oil was out for delivery for straight days.
They’ve been our oil people for 11 years: great service and competitive prices.
