In a December 2023 review, a customer praised Danny for noticing that the property's heat was not working properly while he was working on the septic system, then calling the customer immediately. The reviewer credited that call with averting trouble. Maciel & Son's has also been mentioned by the Vineyard Gazette in reporting on local wastewater work. A July 2022 reviewer said they had previously been pleased with the company's septic pumping, but objected to a later clogged-toilet service bill. The customer reported less than an hour of work, a $4,880 bill the following day, and an additional $500 charge after questioning the amount. The same reviewer also alleged that the company had dumped sewage on another woman's lawn after she disputed a bill in April 2021. That allegation was about someone else's experience, rather than the reviewer's own job.
