Porches and decks come up again and again: another 2021 customer had portions of an existing structure replaced and called the crew punctual, and in June 2024 a Google reviewer had a double deck taken down and rebuilt. The smaller carpentry is the other half of the work. Ed and a second man patched the floor of a shed for a May 2024 customer, who singled out how detailed he was. Two men installed a slider for a 2023 Thumbtack customer, going back to the store three times to get it right and cleaning up before they left. A 2021 customer with a house she said was nearly 300 years old had a door done and came away impressed. Bigger jobs are in there too. A July 2024 homeowner came through a remodel covering the kitchen, the laundry room and a new bathroom, and credited Mario and Olvin with catching details she would not have known to ask for. A June 2024 reviewer had Juan Carlos and his crew renovate a bathroom and said complications were handled as they came. BuildZoom lists the same mix of permits — siding and deck replacements in Winthrop, Andover and Everett, and a Somerville kitchen and bathroom remodel valued between $16.6k and $87.8k, pulled across 2023 and 2024. Before any deposit, settle the paperwork. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #197903, is expired on the state registry, and BuildZoom reports the same number as inactive with a 4 February 2026 expiration, adding that the registration had at one point been cancelled. Houzz still describes the company as licensed, bonded and insured, so the two do not agree — ask Mario directly whether the registration has been renewed, and get a certificate of insurance. Two smaller things to pin down. The written accounts run 2021 through mid-2024, so ask for references from the past year. And the listings point two ways on where the company is based: BuildZoom and Thumbtack put it at 16 Henshaw St in Woburn, Angi and HomeAdvisor at 50 Watts St in Chelsea. A sensible call for a porch, deck, door or interior carpentry job north of Boston, where you can meet the crew before they start. Confirm the registration status first, and get the scope and price in writing.
