McGough Plumbing & Heating is a Lynn plumbing shop that's been in business for 28 years, according to a Better Business Bureau profile that also lists it under the name Paul's Drain Cleaning at the same address and phone number; the BBB grades it A+, though the business isn't a BBB-accredited member. All ten reviews on file, spanning 2023 to 2026, are five stars, and two names come up again and again: Max and Bob. Reviewers describe fast turnaround on water heater replacements — one 2025 review said a broken water heater was replaced within a few hours of the call — and consistently fair, upfront pricing with no hidden costs. A 2024 review described Max and his team handling a full sink, disposal and dishwasher install during a kitchen remodel, calling the work impeccable, and another described the company as a longtime go-to for a parent's ongoing plumbing needs, most recently fixing a tub backup. For straightforward plumbing work in the Lynn area — a water heater swap, a remodel install, or routine repairs — the reviews here are consistently specific and positive, with the same two plumbers earning repeat trust from the same customers over multiple jobs.

I do have just positive and great experiences with this company. I was always pleased with their prompt response, service and price. Nobody can measure with Max and Bob! The best plumbers around!
Professional and friendly, they were able to come by first thing in the morning and did a great job for a fair price. Would definitely recommend!
I would definitely recommend McGoughs Plumbing in Lynn. We've dealt with many companies over the years, but none can compare with them. Max is the best. So honest, so professional, and one of the nicest young men I've ever met. We've had so many problems and there's nothing he hasn't been able to repair at a very reasonable price. He restores your faith in humanity.
Nice technicians who completed a water heater job for me. The quote was the lowest around. They were on time and when they were finished they took the old tank with them. I will be using them in the future and highly recommend their services.
Highly recommend, got a great price when my water heater broke and had it replaced a few hours after I called. Very friendly service, Max was very patient explaining my options and helping me decide the best water heater for my house.
