Mermaid Painting

Seventeen colors, walls mudded smooth, ceilings stained, seven wallpapers — that was one March 2025 job, and the homeowner who lived through it called the team communicative, honest and transparent on pricing. Mermaid Painting works out of South Yarmouth and covers Cape Cod: interior and exterior painting, plus staining, siding painting, power washing, drywall repair and wallpaper removal. The Better Business Bureau lists it as a two-employee corporation started in 2020, co-owned by Laís Abreu Ribeiro and Vanessa Vaz Guimaraes — Lais and Vanessa in the reviews. Preparation is what customers keep describing. A June 2026 reviewer who had the interior of their dad's house painted before putting it on the market called the workmanship meticulous from start to finish. An October 2024 customer named the whole crew — both owners plus Leo, Ellen and a few more — and singled out the prep on their house, saying the family remarked every day on how hard they worked. In March 2024, another homeowner had ceilings, woodwork and walls across a great room, office, stairway and kitchen finished in four long days, with a crack in the vaulted ceiling repaired along the way. People bring them back. One family wrote in November 2023 that Mermaid had by then done three houses and an office for them; a July 2024 customer was on their third round of painting and repair work; a September 2024 customer their second. On price, a September 2023 homeowner got three estimates for a power wash and trim painting and Mermaid came in lowest, then hired them again that fall for two ceilings and two rooms — and a November 2023 customer said the quote they were given was the one they paid. The jobs range from a single bathroom and a whole apartment painted white, both in February 2026, to an entire house exterior washed and painted in Harwich Port in December 2025 and the trim on an antique house in July 2025. A December 2025 Thumbtack customer had their kitchen cabinets redone. A Cape Cod general contractor wrote in March 2026 that he has worked with Lais for a long time and counts the crew among his regular partners, and a separate March 2026 reviewer who deals with contractors often said the finished rooms looked smooth and tidy and the place was left clean. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, 202803, is active on the state registry, and the BBB has graded it A+ and accredited it since 7/12/2023. For an interior repaint, cabinets, or a full exterior on the Cape — especially when the prep is the part you care about — this is a straightforward call. Get the quote in writing, and settle your colors at the consultation the way that March 2025 customer did before the first drop cloth goes down.
