Metropolitan Plastering & Painting

Metropolitan Plastering & Painting is owner-operated by Rafael Vasconcelos, serving Greater Boston and the South Shore with plastering, drywall repair and both interior and exterior painting. On Google, it holds a 5-star average from 74 ratings. The work reviewers describe leans as much on plaster and drywall as on paint: a 200-year-old fixer-upper got plaster repair, sheet rock walls and a full paint job in a 2026 review, and other customers describe a ceiling replacement after a pipe leak, a damaged kitchen wall and ceiling repair, and cracked plaster walls repaired to look new again. On the painting side, reviewers cite exterior deck repaints, a front-steps and back-deck job, and a full exterior repaint that included replacing wood trim and clapboards. Several reviewers say this was their second time hiring the crew, and multiple describe Rafael as communicative and easy to reach throughout the job. On Reddit, a 2021 r/boston poster said Rafael and his crew did their house's indoor trim, walls and ceilings, a 2023 r/boston poster recommended calling the company, and a July 2024 r/brookline poster called it "a bit expensive - $10k for painting everything but looks amazing." One review mentioned a scheduling hiccup that Rafael made up for by finishing quickly, and smaller jobs get scheduled for weekends, which one reviewer notes can run into weather delays. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held by Metropolitan Plastering & Painting Co. Better Business Bureau gives the company an A+ rating, though the profile isn't BBB accredited. It's a fit for plaster, drywall or paint work together — including an older home needing several repairs at once — and worth confirming scheduling if your job is small enough to land on a weekend.
