Monaco Johnson Group is a Salem, Massachusetts design-build renovation contractor — its own site's tagline is "Converting Vision to Elegance" — founded in 2008 by owner Chris Monaco, according to its BBB profile, which also lists four employees and confirms the company's Salem address. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. The one detailed customer account on file, posted on Google in 2024 but describing a project from the summer of 2021, describes a father-and-son team gutting an inherited "gloomy kitchen," removing a poorly placed closet to open a portal to the dining area, and working with a cabinet maker on new lighting and layout — the kind of full-room renovation the company's Houzz profile also points to, which lists design-build, remodeling and carpentry work. Houzz's listing for the company also shows a Houzz Award, a Houzz Badge, a Silver LEED Certification, and a 2004 BSA Award for Design Excellence — credentials attributed to that platform rather than independently verified here. Its About text on Houzz describes the company as based in Marblehead and serving Greater Boston, which doesn't quite match the Salem address on its license and BBB records. For a project of real scope, ask to see recent work in the same vein as the 2021 kitchen gut-renovation a past customer described — full room-scale jobs, not just smaller fixes.
Father and son head a range of specialists within all that is needed in home renovation. They bring a high level of expertise as true artisans of home remodeling! In the summer of 2021, we had our inherited gloomy kitchen totally demolished, and commissioned this construction group to capture a new vision of what a limited dimension-sized kitchen could become. With the assistance of an exceptional Cabinet Maker, they went to work eliminating a poorly located closet, and created a large open portal to the dining area. Several new additions of receding ceiling lights were mounted along with an exciting decorative splash-wall. A contemporary range hood was installed over a professional gourmet range with robust output. A neglected "breakfast-nook" of sorts was given earthy reddish-brown faux pub-brick to the surrounding walls to create a cozy intimacy for morning coffee! Lush Italian porcelain tile was applied to the kitchen flooring with a butcher-block placed dead center. When completed, the new kitchen was transformed to a welcomed refuge for family and friends. Our investment in the Monaco Johnson Group was well rewarded!
