O'Connell Plumbing & Heating is a Salem, Massachusetts business with a 3.9-star Google average from 7 ratings and a small, mixed written record. A December 2025 review describes using the company three times — updating a water tank, replacing a cast-iron sewage pipe, and installing a gas stove — and says a second technician who later worked on an unrelated job specifically complimented the quality of the copper plumbing already in place. A separate web mention describes the crew working two days straight to fix multiple problems in a newly purchased house, including a technician named Kevin coming out on a Sunday for an unexpected emergency. A March 2025 review tells a different story: a toilet installed at full price came loose within two years, and when the customer called about it, they described being accused of causing the problem themselves and told they'd have to pay for a service call with a five-day wait, on top of having been double-charged when the toilet was first purchased. With only a handful of reviews on file, it's a small enough sample that either account could weigh heavily on someone's decision — worth asking directly about warranty terms on installed fixtures before booking.

This is the best plumbing around.I would recommend em to everybody claudia is wonderful
We've used O'Connell to update our water tank, replaced a cast iron sewage pipe, and for a gas stove installation. Every interaction has been professional, friendly, very timely, and did not break the bank. What stands out to me is that after we did the water heater, we had someone else come in for the broiler. The other technician was visibly impressed and complimented the copper plumbing. He said he could tell that it was quality work. For a sewage pipe leak we had in the basement due to rotting cast iron pipe, O'Connell recommended a lower-cost alternative to connect and run a pipe above ground rather than breaking the foundation to replace the older one. This saved us a significant amount of time and money. For this recent stove installation, I have to thank Scott for coming over at 6AM in the morning to squeeze us in over the holidays. He was so polite and friendly - and most importantly, he valued safety, checking twice no gas leaks before leaving. O'Connell's is local and has been in business a long time. They'll come do a small job that other plumbers may pass up, I appreciate that about them!
do not use this company. I paid top dollar for a toilet to be installed and two years later it actually moves. I went to paint behind the toilet and noticed the toilet was crooked I don’t know what made me try, but I straightened it and I was able to actually move the toilet. It’s only me here the woman accused Me of the way I sit on it and said they would have to charge me a service call and couldn’t come for five days. When I first purchased the toilet, they charged me twice. I had to wait for a refund. I was very nice and patient with them and this is how they talk to you. I will now have to pay another plumber to fix what they messed up
