Scott Penney and his family team completed a 700-square-foot addition and a total kitchen and dining-room remodel for a customer who continued living in the house. In the customer’s September 2024 Google review, they said Scott and his sons finished cabinet and appliance installations in time for a December holiday meal; the full project finished in late January 2024. They also described getting several possible solutions when challenges arose and efforts to keep the family comfortable during construction. Penncraft Contracting is based in Groton. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 207973, is active in the name Penncraft Contracting LLC. Houzz identifies W. Scott Penney in its ownership statement. A May 2023 Houzz customer praised deck and basement-bathroom work, communication, efficiency and attention to the budget. In an October 2022 account, another customer described a major addition and praised the management of subcontractors and supply-chain issues. A January 2021 customer praised basement finishing, reliability, scheduling and problem-solving, and said additional projects had been scheduled. The earlier accounts describe more substantial renovation work. An October 2020 Houzz reviewer praised a whole-home renovation and kitchen work. A January 2020 customer described a deck, screened porch and mud room, calling the father-son team collaborative. A December 2019 customer praised a detached garage and studio, including craftsmanship, permitting and management of subcontractors. Another December 2019 account praised a family-room addition’s design, workmanship and scheduling. Houzz reported a 5.0-star average from 10 ratings in August 2026, while Google reported 3.7 stars from three ratings that month. Houzz also described its Groton profile as suspended. The directory lists four Houzz Awards and 48 projects.
