Ask about Peter Paone HVAC and you tend to get a name back rather than a company — Peter, or Bobby, or Mark. Across 27 reviews on Thumbtack, Angi and HomeAdvisor the crew is small enough that customers know who turned up, and the scores hold steady: 4.8 on Thumbtack over 23 ratings, 4.9 on Angi and HomeAdvisor over 24, where 92% are five stars. The work runs wider than the name suggests. Heating and cooling is the spine — ductwork and dampers, ductless mini-splits, A/C service, oil burners and boilers — but the newest accounts are plumbing. A condo owner writing in July 2026 described Bobby flushing three hot water tanks in the building, replacing a nipple on one and rebuilding a toilet tank that would not stop running. Another 2026 customer called for routine HVAC maintenance and cleaning and stayed on as a regular. The written history starts early and reads consistently. Twelve of these reviews date from 2021, and the beats in them are the ones that still show up: came the next day, done same day, cleaned up after. In a September 2025 Angi review a homeowner had HVAC dampers and a control panel swapped and made a point of the questions being answered ahead of time, "so we didnt have any last minute surprises." A 2024 Thumbtack customer described a mini-split system going in fast enough that the speed was the thing they remembered. One caution is worth carrying into the first phone call. A customer writing in April 2021 advised getting a written invoice with the quoted price up front so there were no surprises at the end. Nobody has repeated it since, but it is the one thing here worth pinning down before work starts. A sensible call for a Melrose-area homeowner who wants the owner's own crew rather than a dispatch queue — a mini-split, a run of ductwork, or a water heater that quit overnight. Agree the price in writing first, and ask who from the crew will actually be doing the job.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Peter Paone HVAC. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Peter was easy to communicate with and very responsive. Bobby from his team flushed the 3 hot water tanks in our condo building, replaced a nipple to one hot water tank, and rebuilt a toilet tank so it would not consistently run. Bobby brought A+ service and was super friendly.
Super responsive on scheduling routine maintenance/cleaning for my HVAC system and the guy who came out couldn’t have been nicer and was incredibly knowledgeable, gave me some good tips, etc. Will 100% be a regular customer!
Peter installed a water heater for me and was fast to respond, sent his guys out quickly, completed the job professionally, and was easy to work with.
Peter and Mark were very professional. I needed to replace the HVAC dampers and the communication with Peter was excellent and we had all questions answered ahead of time so we didnt have any last minute surprises. They showed up on time and installed the dampers and the HVAC control panel. Very thorough and clean with their work. I've already recommended them to my neighbors.
Great experience. Able to get a technician out within hours of reaching out. Bobby took the time to talk through different possibilities and was able to repair our AC. Will definitely use again
