Brian Mahoney runs a Pillar To Post home inspection office out of Concord, and the five people who wrote about him all describe the same thing: he walks you through the house as he inspects it and explains what he finds. A first-time buyer in a 2017 review said his manner made a nerve-wracking walk-through easier, and that he encouraged them to ask questions; a 2019 first-timer said he explained the whole process and left them understanding what to fix and when. A homeowner inspecting before listing in 2018 called the review of the house amazingly thorough and said it surfaced things they had not known after twenty years of living there. One 2018 client valued that safety issues were clearly separated from things merely worth knowing, and mentioned a book of information handed over at the end. Another, also 2018, was able to schedule immediately and had the detailed report the same day. The caveat is age and breadth: Google shows 5 stars from 23 ratings, but the written record is a single platform and stops in May 2019, so nothing here describes how the office runs now.
This was my first home inspection and Brian was excellent to work with. He explained the entire process and was able to answer all the questions I asked him. Thanks to him I have a better understanding of the items I should fix in the future and the recommended maintenance schedule for many of the systems in the house.
Connecting with Brian was quick and easy throughout the whole process. He was easy to get in touch with and was able to schedule the home inspection immediately. I received a detailed report the same day which saved time in the home buying process.
I used Pillar to Post before putting my house on the market so that I would have now no surprises during the sales process and so that I might address some of the issues. Brian did an amazingly thorough review of the house. He discovered many things I never knew about after 20 years living in the house. And he noticed everything I knew about. I walked around the house with him as he was doing the inspection and he showed me each of the issues so that I would know where they were and understand them. A couple issues showed up on the report that had been noted during times I had stepped away to talk with my realtor. When I emailed Brian to better understand the issues and where they were, he called me back within minutes to explain everything to me. I used Brian before the sale of my house. I will definitely use him to inspect the house I plan to buy next.
I only have one other inspection to compare to, but this inspection far exceeded my expectations. I appreciated the way that everything was explained in a way that I could understand, and I felt I had a good sense of what was a safety issue, versus just something to be aware of and how to go about making the necessary changes. I also really appreciate the book of information that was provided at the end. that will be extremely helpful. Lastly, Brian was very personable, in addition to being thorough, which made the whole experience that much more pleasant. would definitely recommend.
Brian had a very welcoming and confident personality which made the thorough walk through inspection less nerve wracking considering this is my first time at the home buying process. The encouragement of my boyfriend and I to ask questions and the feedback we received reassured us we were in good hands.
