One September 2024 Google review gives the clearest picture of what Quantum Leap Construction takes on: a Greater Boston house worked through in 2023 and 2024 that gained central air and a third bathroom, had its other bathrooms renovated, a wall taken down, the kitchen island redone, and a staircase converted into a mudroom. That is the scale the company describes for itself. Its site presents Quantum Leap as a Newton-based design-build general contractor specializing in large whole-home renovations, additions, ADUs and new construction, founded in 2018 by Amr Hafez — who, the site says, spent more than 20 years optimizing processes for banks and pharmaceutical companies before moving into construction. Four of the five written accounts name Amr personally. What those customers describe is a single point of contact who stays on the project. In an April 2023 review, a family finishing a two-phase remodel of their upstairs and downstairs wrote that Amr guided them through the process and absorbed design changes they made mid-project. Another April 2023 customer, who used him as design lead and general contractor on a major renovation, described going on site visits together to pick materials. A third, writing the same week, made the plainer point: the crew showed up when it said it would and got the job done. The Massachusetts home improvement contractor licence, 208164, is active on the state registry in Amr Hafez's name. The company's site also cites a CSL number, CS-118074, and a Lead-Safe Renovation Contractor Certification. Its BBB page carries an A rating. Thumbtack shows eighteen projects, Houzz eight. The written history is short and clustered: four accounts from the first week of April 2023, one from September 2024. For a gut renovation or an addition where one person has to hold the design, the trades and the schedule together, that is the job these customers describe. Two things to settle up front: how mid-project changes get priced, since one 2023 customer made some, and how long the company has been building — its own site says eight years and a 2018 start, Thumbtack says nine, and the BBB page says two.
I hired Amr/Quantum Leap for house renovation in Greater Boston in 2023/2024 that involved adding central air, adding a third bathroom, renovating bathrooms, knocking down a wall, kitchen island renovation and turning a staircase into a mudroom. Among all the quotes we collected, Amr's was reasonable and in line with what others have quoted, but we were impressed by his professionalism and how easy it was to work with him, talk to him etc. After signing the contract, communication was mostly done via WhatsApp, where he shared pictures regularly (as we were not living in the Boston area at that time). The project was mostly on time. It was only slightly over budget because we failed a few inspections requiring redoing some things, but I think that's just a hit or mess with the inspector. Throughout the project, we were always happy and satisfied with his work. If we weren’t, he and his team never hesitated to make changes to address any issues. I never felt bad for asking to make changes - they happily obliged. We also asked for additional work that was not part of the original contract, and Amr was able to give us quotes. Sometimes we were able to find cheaper quotes elsewhere and went with others (and Amr had no problem with this), but most of the time we just stuck with Amr, just because of how easy it was to work with him. Overall, I highly recommend Amr and Quantum Leap Construction and will definitely consider them again for future changes.
Our family recently finished a two phase remodel of the upstairs and downstairs of our home. Amr was able to guide us through the entire process and address our concerns we had throughout. We also made some design changes mid-project, and Amr and company were able to adapt to our new ideas, and work with them to make them a reality. Amr also directly interfaced with sub-contractors so that we didn't have to, and in the cases where initial work wasn't up to our standards, would either work with the subcontractors to meet our bar, or would get another subcontractor to finish the job. At the end of the project, we're extremely happy with how the remodel turned out, turning a dated house with layers of old wallpaper, into a modern house that feels much friendlier and warm to walk into. Going back in time, we wouldn't have changed our decision to go with Amr and QLP. Thanks!
We did a major home renovation with Amr as our design lead / GC and we felt very comfortable with him throughout the process. It was quite fun going on site visits with him to select materials or for design inspiration, and he was very collaborative, flexible, and patient as we narrowed in on what we wanted. In the construction phase, if there was an error made along the way, it was always addressed and fixed. He followed through on all promises and we're so very happy with the results! Amr was great to work with and made our dream home happen for us!
Really great experience working with this contractor. Great quality work and is super organized and shows up on time. Don't have to second guess if he's going to be on time or whether his crew will get the job done. Saves a lot of the headache of dealing with contractors. Very professional and knows his stuff, not cutting corners like many do.
