Rick Pinto Swimming Pools says it has been in business for 40 years, and its website describes pool installation, maintenance, repair and renovation for residential and commercial properties in Connecticut. Its stated service area runs from Greenwich, Darien and Stamford through Norwalk, Wilton, Ridgefield and Redding. Its BBB grade is A+. In a 2023 Houzz review, a customer said Rick Pinto had maintained their pool for 7 years and sent his staff to assist when needed. A 2024 customer said they needed a new filter that year, and it was ordered and installed within 2 days. A 2024 Google reviewer said these guys had saved them a couple of times and called the techs capable and patient. A 2024 customer who had used the service for years said it trailed off: the pool pump was often left off after service, and chemical spills were left on the deck. That 2024 customer wrote that a pool heater Pinto sold and installed sprang a major leak, and that the new pool company named two possible causes of the heater's rapid degradation: poor maintenance of the pH and chemicals, or poor winterization. In a reply quoted in that 2024 review, Rick Pinto said the chlorine had gone in the skimmer and eventually destroyed the heat exchanger. The customer's later update said Rick made the repair to the heater after some back and forth offline. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0550791, as active, held by Rick Pinto Swimming Pool Service.
These guys are wonderful, our pool has never looked better. We also needed a new filter this year, they had it ordered and installed within 2 days. Highly recommend!
Great service for years but really it trailed off. Pool pump often left off after service. Chemical spills left on deck, cover left off skimmer etc.. Nothing too major so I thought; the type of thing you can let slide. Just before the close of last season a MAJOR Leak sprung from the newly purchased and installed (within 3 or 4 years?) pool heater. I asked if it could be addressed under some sort of warranty as Pinto sold me and installed the heater, it could not. Then when the pool was closed, my filter pump was put away in my storage which was left open for a rainstorm. Seeing the soaking pump was the last straw. Upon opening the pool this year the new pool co told me there are only two things that could have caused such rapid degradation of the heater 1) poor maintenance of the pH and chemicals in the pool or 2) poor winterization. Either way my new heater which should last decades is totally ruined. UPDATE after Rick Pinto replied : "You were asked when we first received your account if you wanted a chlorinator, but you didn't, so where were we supposed to put the chlorine? It's unfortunately the skimmer...and it eventually destroyed the heat exchanger, which we could have repaired" 1) We weren't asked about a chlorinator. 2) Asking ' where were where we supposed to put the chlorine' is something I'd assume a pool professional would know, not the homeowner. 3) Your knowing that densley chlorinated water from the chlorine in the skimmer would destroy the water heater at a vastly accelerated pace THEN DOING IT ANYWAY is as you said you did above, is all anyone reading this review should need to know. ****......UPDATE.......**** To Rick's credit, after some back and forth offline, he has made the repair to the heater.
These guys have saved me a couple of times. They provide great and quick service, the techs are super capable and patient.
