"No Cape Cod callbacks with this guy." That line, from a homeowner writing in July 2024, is the sharpest thing anyone has said about Ridge Home Services — and on a peninsula where chasing a contractor back to finish the last ten percent is a local sport, it is the compliment that counts.
The company is a small Forestdale outfit that BBB records as incorporated in January 2016, run by Michael Schofield, whom every reviewer simply calls Mike. HomeAdvisor puts the tenure at ten years and the work at interior and exterior carpentry and remodeling: framing, basements, garages, siding, windows, and asphalt shingle roofs.
Seven customers have written about them and all seven gave five stars. The most detailed, from July 2024, started as a kitchen window and a sliding door and grew into re-siding the back of the house, replacing the hatchway and swapping every corner board for azek trim — that customer praised polite, neat crews who cleaned up at the end of each day, quotes that arrived within 24 hours, and being kept informed about start times. Another July 2024 reviewer had an original roof replaced for $19,800 and described the crew covering the shrubs and finishing in a single day. In a January 2021 review, a homeowner wrote about Mike and his son Ryder tiling a bathroom, painting bedrooms and a hallway, and not disappearing for days without saying where they were.
The paper trail lines up with the praise. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #199565, is active in the state registry; BuildZoom scores it 98, above 84% of Massachusetts contractors, and its permit records show at least five jobs across two years in South Dennis and Dennis — among them a $250,000 interior remodel with a deck extension, a basement remodel with a new bathroom, and cedar clapboard siding. BBB grades it A+ without accrediting it.
Two things to weigh. The written record is thin and slightly stale: seven reviews in total, and nothing new since October 2024. And BBB lists a single employee while reviewers describe "Mike and his crew" — worth asking who will actually be on site and how many jobs run at once.
A good fit for Cape Cod carpentry, siding, windows and mid-size remodels where communication matters more than scale. Ask for the current registration certificate, a certificate of insurance, and a look at a finished job before you commit.
