S&S Construction is a Marblehead design-build general contractor run by Branden Scimone and Weverton Silva, taking on remodeling, gut rehabs, additions and construction management around the North Shore. On Google it holds a 4.8★ average from 18 ratings, and BBB gives it an A+ grade, though it is not BBB accredited. The written reviews back that up with real detail. A 2024 customer on their second project with Branden described custom trim, a tiled primary-bath ceiling with dual rainfall shower heads, and a staircase built as a centerpiece — work the family says they wished would never end. Another 2024 review covers a trickier job: replacing a century-old severed pipe buried in a crawl space under asbestos, which meant pulling up original hardwood floors, having the asbestos removed, running new pipe, and refinishing the floor to match — the reviewer credited the team with laying out clear options at each stage. A 2021 North Shore Magazine feature on a historic 1725 Marblehead property rebuild quoted the client calling Scimone "super-organized," with the job finishing on schedule. Not everything on record is glowing: in a 2022 review, a prospective client described being strung along for two months with promised calls and site visits that never happened, then getting ghosted entirely. Worth asking up front: the company's own site claims 10+ years of experience, a bit longer than the 8 years BBB has on file — not a red flag on its own, but worth a quick conversation about how long the current team has been operating before committing to a bigger project.

“When the Donovans met Branden Scimone, the owner of S&S Construction in Marblehead, they were confident that Scimone and his partner, Weverton Silva, would fulfill their dream, rebuilding the house to the couple’s impeccable standards and the historical commission’s rigorous rules. … It was immediately clear that Scimone was focused on success: “He is super-organized and managed the subs phenomenally.” And S&S finished on schedule.”
On thanksgiving we reviewed what we are grateful for. Our two year old said “The house branden built us.” This is my second project with Branden and S&S construction. It’s rare that a customer hopes the project never ends, but that’s just how much we enjoyed working with him. There wasn’t an idea too out there for us to make happen. Custom trim in our primary, a tiled ceiling with dual rainfall shower heads, a staircase that is truly a work of art. Our house is more than just our dream house, because Branden thought up details we wouldn’t have even considered. Simply can’t recommend working with S&S and the team (Wev and Paolo too) enough.
We went to S&S/Branden Scimone for a project that involved replacing an almost 100 year old severed pipe that was located in crawl space and covered with asbestos. The job involved taking out a section of the original hard wood floors, removing the asbestos, installing a new pipe, replacing the hard wood floor and then refinishing so it matched the rest of the rooms. The team at S&S was well organized, thorough and presented us with multiple options and solutions at each stage of the project. We could not be happier with both the experience and the results. The heat is working perfectly and the floors look better than ever - you would never be able to tell that a sizable section was completely replaced. The entire crew, including the demo workers, plumber, wood floor installation and finishing specialists, and painters, were not only kind and considerate, but also highly professional and meticulous with their work. A special shout out to the project manager, Paulo, who was a total ace. He consistently stopped by the house to check in, sent regular updates on the work and timing, and was just a really nice and genuine person.
Strung me along for two months on a large project. They committed to follow-up calls and site visits that they never made. Constant excuses. Repeatedly prompted them nicely asking if they were still interested (or not); they kept confirming they were while doing nothing afterwards. They finally ghosted me altogether after one final attempt. Unprofessional run-around. The worst part isn’t that they may not do the work; it’s the chance they’ll mislead you for weeks and weeks and then disappear.
