S&S Kitchens is Frank Similia's one-man kitchen-and-bath design shop, working out of Leominster and serving homeowners across Central Massachusetts. The recurring story across nearly a decade of reviews is structural: a 1967-built kitchen with a dividing wall to the dining room, or a house someone toured mid-sale, and Frank drawing up a plan to open the space rather than just swap cabinets. He designs the layout, walks homeowners through cabinet and countertop choices, then lines up the general contractor and subs — plumbing, electrical, flooring, painting — so the project runs as one job instead of a string of separate hires. The volume backs that up: 36 reviews since 2017 across Google, Houzz, Angi and HomeAdvisor, every one five stars, with the same specifics recurring — wall removals that "opened up the space," granite and quartz countertops customers still bring up years later, and more than one repeat client coming back for a second kitchen. In a 2024 review, a fellow general contractor described being frustrated with another design house's slow, vague process before finding Frank, who turned around a full cabinet design within a couple of weeks. In a 2024 review, one family described S&S rebuilding their kitchen after water damage from a failed hot-water device — "the granite countertop is a joy to look at every day." Its Houzz profile also carries a Houzz Award and Houzz Badge. Before calling: Houzz lists a Massachusetts contractor license number for the company, but that hasn't been independently verified against the state registry, so it's worth confirming directly. Bathroom work shows up too, but only once in the written record, so treat it as a secondary offering next to the kitchen work. No negative account shows up anywhere in the record — no complaint about pricing, timeline, or workmanship across any of the platforms. For a homeowner planning a full kitchen or bath renovation, not just a cabinet swap, S&S is the design-and-coordination piece rather than the crew doing the physical work — confirm the license number directly and get the project timeline in writing before signing on.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from S&S Kitchens. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Cabinets are roughly 30% of a kitchen budget.

I first spoke with Frank during our process of touring homes in Central MA. Once we had an accepted offer, he immediately came out to go over the space with us. He let us drive the design process, but offered some very thoughtful ideas/suggestions including removal of a wall, and changing the orientation of the room - he created an extremely detailed design, and we were blown away by the final result. Frank was honest and extremely knowledgable, and I would not hesitate to use him again, or recommend him to a friend.
Frank had a bold vision for our small, dated kitchen. Our house was built in 1967, everything in the kitchen was original and dated! There was a dividing wall between the kitchen and dining room...Frank's idea was to get rid of the wall and open up the space. HE WAS RIGHT! It feels like we are in a new house...great open space, great light, and everybody that sees it loves it. Frank designed the space, helped us choose the materials, and brought in the contractor. The contractor and his subs were great, craftsmanship was wonderful and everyone who worked on the project was terrific! We would definitely recommend S&S Kitchens to anyone who is thinking of re-modeling!
We LOVE our new kitchen! We had a definite picture in mind of what we wanted and Frank was able to make that happen. He and the contractors were great- very responsive, courteous, knowledgeable, and he made sure that everything ran smoothly and on time and also stayed on budget. It's a one stop shop with plumbing, electrical, flooring and painting included, too, so the work was all nicely coordinated and we didn't lose days waiting for different contractors/companies to be available. The workers were on time and even came on the weekends. The few small hitches we had were resolved quickly and satisfactorily. A big plus was that we had complete control over our options for flooring, backslash, and paint- we could choose anything and order it from anywhere and his contractors would install it instead of being forced to use the limited options offered by some other kitchen companies. The old kitchen was dark, cabinets were falling apart, floor tiles cracked, it didn't allow a large refrigerator to fit, and we hated the counters. The new kitchen functions well with plenty of storage space, the cabinets are sturdy, the quartz counter is gorgeous, and it is so much brighter now!
Frank is very knowledgeable at building kitchens. Easy to work with. This is the second kitchen I’m doing, and the second time using S&S kitchens products.
Frank helped us design a stunning new bathroom and was great to work with! We loved his suggestions and the product quality to excellent. We're thrilled with how it came out
