Seaside Pools has been building and servicing swimming pools on Cape Cod since 1997, when founder David Cavatorta started the company as a one-man operation out of Dennis. Two of his sons now work alongside him, and the company says it covers the whole Cape, from Barnstable and Bourne down to Provincetown and Wellfleet, handling everything from pool design and installation to liner replacement, saltwater conversions, hot tub and spa work, and seasonal openings and closings. The city permit history backs up the construction side of that story: BuildZoom shows 28 permitted jobs, mostly gunite and vinyl in-ground pools valued between $25,000 and $160,000, spread across towns like Harwich, Orleans, Chatham, and West Yarmouth — the same footprint the company claims for itself. BuildZoom also lists a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration for the company, though that's the directory's own claim rather than something confirmed directly against the state registry. The customer-review side tells a rougher story. The only detailed review on file is a 2026 Google post describing the owner as rude and unresponsive after a pool he installed lost most of its water to a leak — the customer says it was still under warranty, that it took a threatened lawsuit to get him out to look at it, and that he never followed up afterward. Google's own aggregate shows 3 stars, but from just two ratings total, so there isn't much else on the platform to weigh that complaint against. The Better Business Bureau gives the business an A+ grade, though it isn't an accredited member there. One thing worth asking about directly: the company's website says it's been operating since 1997 (nearly 30 years), while BBB's file lists the business as started in 2015 — likely a difference between when Cavatorta began doing the work and when the current corporate entity was formed, but it isn't reconciled anywhere in what's available. For a family weighing a pool build against this company's long-stated history and solid permit record, it's worth calling references and asking directly how warranty service gets handled if something goes wrong after the pool is in the ground.
This company is rude and unresponsive, especially the owner Dave! We had to threaten a lawsuit to get him to come figure out why our pool had practically no water left in it because it was leaking which he installed and was under warranty! After he did finally show up he never followed up with us to discuss the problem! I would NEVER use this company again!
