Design Construction & Consulting Services is a Dorchester design-build shop that takes a job from the early sketches through to the last coat — and much of its work is the kind of older Boston building where opening a wall is a gamble. Cesar DaSilva runs it, and BBB has accredited the firm since 2018 with an A+ grade. The company describes its specialism as restoring older New England buildings while keeping the original facade, alongside residential and commercial renovations, additions, gut renovations and additional-dwelling-unit conversions. BBB records the business as starting in 1992 and incorporating in 2001, with seven employees and an architect, Albert Costa, on the management line beside DaSilva. The 2025 reviews name the job each time: a home addition, a roof replacement, a kitchen and living room renovation, a bathroom renovation. A June 2025 client described being walked from early design ideas through final construction, and a February 2025 reviewer called them experts in home additions. The older accounts carry the detail. In a January 2021 review, a homeowner whose kitchen gut uncovered insufficient framing and rotten roof planks wrote that Cesar's team handled the surprises expertly. An August 2020 customer had hired them for a large project, then a small one, and made the point that small jobs are hard to get a contractor to take. A July 2020 reviewer gave three and a half stars with a specific reservation: the primary construction was good, the finishing needed improvement. That finishing note is the thing to press on. Ask to see a finished room up close — trim, paint lines, tile edges — and put in writing what the final walk-through covers and who signs it off. Spanish is spoken, and free estimates are offered, per its Angi page. For an older Boston house facing a serious addition, a gut renovation or facade-preserving work, this is a fitting call. Ask for the construction supervisor licence number and check it with the state, and if your job is a cosmetic refresh where the finish is the whole job, ask how the finish carpentry is staffed before you book.
