For a Dorchester design-build firm whose stated specialism is old New England buildings — restoring them while keeping the original facade — that is the job description. Design Construction & Consulting Services trades as DCCS and is run by Cesar DaSilva, with an architect, Albert Costa, listed alongside him in management. The company says it has served public and private clients in the Northeast since 1990 and puts itself at 36 years in the trade; the BBB records the corporation as started in 1992 and incorporated in 2001, with seven employees. Its work runs residential and commercial renovations, additions, gut renovations and additional-dwelling-unit conversions. DaSilva's Massachusetts Construction Supervisor licence — CS-116648, the credential behind a building permit — is active through August 2027, and the number matches the one the company itself publishes on Angi. The customer record is positive but comes in two eras. The recent one is Google: a home addition, a roof replacement, a kitchen and living room, a bathroom, all written up in the second half of 2025, plus a four-star account of being guided from early design ideas through to construction. The older one is Angi, running 2003 to January 2021 — the kitchen rescue above, a customer who liked them enough to send family and to bring them back for a small job, and one 3.5-star review in 2020 that put it bluntly: primary construction good, finishing needs improvement. Two things to weigh. Five of the seven Google reviews went up on a single day in June 2025, which reads as a push to collect them rather than a steady stream — each describes a different project, but the burst is worth knowing about. And the finishing comment from 2020 is the one specific criticism anyone has left; on a gut renovation, the finish carpentry and trim is where you would want to see examples before signing. The right fit here is an older Boston building that needs opening up — an addition, a gut, an ADU conversion — where the design and the construction come from the same office. Ask to walk a finished project, and confirm who is running the finish work.
