Verified record
Simpson Bros Moving & Storage is a Lawrence outfit with real history behind it — the Better Business Bureau lists the company as operating since 1928 and incorporated in 1997, with about 5 employees today. On Google it holds a 4.3★ average across 22 ratings, and BBB gives it an A+ grade, though the business isn't BBB-accredited. Reviewers who've used them for actual moves describe a loyal, repeat relationship. One reviewer, writing in 2023, said they'd been moved by Simpson multiple times, called it family run, and had referred the company to others, adding they wouldn't use anyone else. Another review from 2022 called out friendly staff and the best price per foot around. The one sour note in the record is a detailed 2022 complaint about the storage side of the business rather than a move: a customer paying for storage space said the company had told her verbally they'd be open Monday 9am-5pm, but when she and her mother arrived with a U-Haul due back at 2pm, the fence was locked, nobody answered repeated calls, and another customer waiting nearby said the business 'opens up whenever they want.' Ask about storage-hour reliability specifically before counting on scheduled access — the moving side of the reviews reads consistently well.

Moved by Simpson multiple times. Family run. Have referred to multiple people. Would not use another company.
Very nice people and reasonable prices.
My mother and I used this storage place because she used them many years ago and it was good service. This time we paid for a storage space and that was fine and they told us verbally they would be open on Monday 9-5pm. We rented a uhaul truck that was due back 2pm on a Monday (08/08/'22). We got there at 11am and the fence was locked up and we were confused. We called them multiple times with no one answering. We saw another person (waiting for another storage space nearby to open up) and he said (about Simpson&bros)"they open up whenever they want" he went (a previous time)to talk to the owner of Simpson&bros and asked him about opening up at random hours and not what's posted and the owner said "it's my business,I can open up whenever I want." We waited nearly 3 hours until we finally got a new storage place at Century (the place was reliable and the woman was helpful). We were in Lawrence yesterday (Monday 08/15/'22) and we drove by Simpson&bros around 10am and they were closed. Thankfully later around 11am we saw they were open so we could get the little bit of storage out that we did put there previously and took our lock and key with us because we weren't going back. This is just a warning to others, especially if you have a uhaul that's due at a certain time because they open whenever they want with no regard to customers.
Very friendly staff. The best price per feet around.
