TBros - Trethewey Brothers Inc

Some customers have used Trethewey Brothers for 26, 30 or 32 years. The Roslindale plumbing and heating company says it was founded in 1902 and has stayed family-run from the same location for five generations. Its site lists Mike Flanagan and Bob Trethewey as co-owners, and it shows 4.7★ from 263 Google ratings. Old houses and second opinions are a big part of the work. An April 2026 customer who has relied on TBros for 32 years said that when the complicated multi-zone heating in their 104-year-old Victorian went haywire, the crew found three faulty zone heads. In an October 2025 review, a customer who was told by another plumber they needed a $15,000 boiler said TBros fixed a leaking valve instead for $800, and a November 2025 customer said Paul repaired a shower mixing valve another firm had given up on. A May 2024 Reddit commenter in r/boston said the company insisted on a permit and that they paid a premium. Other customers describe problems. In a December 2024 review, a customer said technicians twice drained an overfilled steam boiler and charged for each visit without fixing the cause, which the customer later traced to a dirty low-water cutoff probe. A February 2025 customer in their eighties said that when their heat went out on a Saturday they were told the work would wait until Monday, and they spent a night in a hotel with the house at 45 degrees; the plumber then arrived Monday with the wrong part, the fix slipped to Tuesday, and they were charged $190 for that visit. A December 2025 customer said a dishwasher was installed without being anchored and its upper rack was smashed from crashing out. A June 2026 customer said a phone quote came with caveats for extra charges and a $95 fee just to get an estimate, so they went elsewhere. In January 2024, a customer asking about a new water heater said no one replied for more than a week after they sent the photos requested, and in January 2022 a customer said the receptionist yelled at them and a manager hung up.
