Based in South Deerfield, Thayer Street Builders says it provides general contracting, design-build and construction management throughout New England, with more than thirty years of residential, commercial and institutional experience. The newer customer accounts differ sharply on the finished work. In a February 2026 Google review, a homeowner praised a front porch, garage re-roofing, whole-house siding and replacement windows, saying the work was delivered as promised. A November 2025 reviewer praised the major structural work but reported crooked windows and a door, incorrect porch flashing, and uneven walls and flooring. That customer also said the firm refused to return to correct the problems and told them to find someone else. Older accounts give specific examples of its carpentry and remodeling. A customer writing on Google in August 2019 said Thayer Street Associates converted a two-story garage in Haydenville into a home in 2018. They identified Vern Harrington as the head of the company and praised the team's suggestions and subcontractors. In April 2020, a Houzz reviewer described custom cabinets that replaced sliding-door closets in four rooms, praising the craftsmanship and the team. Another Houzz customer, writing in May 2020, praised replacement windows, stain matched to existing woodwork, and the repair and replacement of stair treads. They also described a custom-window ordering error that the project coordinator corrected. A 2016 Houzz account described a larger renovation involving structural changes, a new kitchen, two renovated bathrooms and new heating and plumbing systems; the customer said the team resolved issues during and after the renovation. These are dated customer experiences, with the written reviews spanning 2008–2026. Google shows a 4.3-star average from six ratings, while Houzz shows 4.8 from four. The firm's BBB grade is A+.
