ThermOil, Inc. is a Belmont, Massachusetts heating, cooling, and plumbing company the business says was founded in 1983 by Angelo Pistoftzian, who remains its owner and president. It describes itself as serving heating oil, heating, cooling, heat-pump, plumbing, water-heater, and air-quality customers across Eastern Massachusetts, and lists Mass Save as an affiliation. Reviewers describe a long-running, loyal customer base: several say they have used ThermOil for 20 years or more, for everything from central air conditioning and ductless mini-splits to plumbing and oil delivery. Ductless mini-split and heat pump installations draw particularly consistent praise — homeowners across several years describe clean, professional installs completed on schedule, with technicians who explain the work and answer questions. The company also handles larger accounts: one customer describes using ThermOil to install and maintain roughly 111 ductless units at a single building, and another describes central heat and AC work plus plumbing across three properties, including two multifamily buildings. Reviewers point to fast response times: a 2023 review describes a furnace replaced the day after a Thanksgiving breakdown, and another from the same year describes a weekend kitchen drain leak fixed within 30 minutes of the call. In a 2017 review, a technician found that a furnace only needed a valve adjustment rather than a costly replacement, saving the customer money. The company holds an A+ Better Business Bureau rating and accreditation, a 4.8-star Google rating from 39 reviews, and a 4.4-star Angi rating from 17 reviews. Not every account is positive. A March 2026 review describes diesel oil repeatedly spilled on a customer's walkway during routine oil deliveries, with no acknowledgment after it recurred. A 2019 Angi review describes a stalled installation project and two newly installed tubs that later leaked and caused water damage, with the reviewer saying the installer would not return calls to finish the job. A Better Business Bureau review, undated, also describes a boiler installation that later failed and needed a follow-up repair. For homeowners weighing HVAC installs, plumbing work, or oil delivery, ThermOil's long track record and repeat customers point to a company most people can trust for routine and larger installation work — but the isolated accounts above are worth asking about directly, particularly around oil-delivery care and follow-through on installation issues, before booking a larger project.

I've been working with Thermoil for twenty years. They installed central A/C in my home, and I just had them install another new central unit in another property that I have. They work hard and if I have an issue, they call me back and respond and fix what is needed to be fix. They do an excellent job and they clean up after themselves. I highly recommend Thermoil if you are looking for HVAC, heating or plumbing services.
I was EXTREMELY SATISFIED. Denilson the technician was very honest and professional. It was my first time i hired Thermoil to do the tuneup and service of my both oil boilers. I wish i could give 6✨️He called me, he explained to me what needs to be done, gave me options and he left the room clean. DEFINITELY i am going to call them next year. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company👏👏👏
Thermoil recently installed mini splits in our home. The team was very friendly and patiently answered all of our questions. Their work was professional, timely, and completed in a clean and organized manner. We’re very satisfied with the service.
I chose Thermoil for an installation through the Mass Save rebate program and had a great experience. The technicians were professional, always on time, and kept everything extremely neat and clean. Anytime I had a question, they took the time to explain things clearly and made the process easy to understand. They stayed on schedule from start to finish, which made the project smooth and stress-free. My wife works from home, and the team was very respectful and kept noise to a minimum so she could continue working without interruption. Overall, an excellent experience and definitely a five-star company. The office staff was also fantastic and very helpful with the loan process and paperwork.
TL;DR- One star for business ethics - Oil spilled on property. Decent price, called the owner a few times and he sounded friendly. However, for the past few oil deliveries, they constantly spilled diesel on my walk path. When it first happened, I didn't notice until the next day after delivery and saw my dog was licking his paw like crazy after our walk and this awful diesel smell on him. Took a good hour or two to clean my dog and the concrete. I first thought it was an honest mistake until it reoccurred the next month after auto oil delivery. Never received any notes from them admitting it or saw attempts of cleaning up their own mess- Like it ain't hard to grab an oil absorption pad while taking that nozzle from the truck to the fill pipe and reverse. Now, after snow just melted, all the diesel they spilled into the soil and sidewalk can be seen running off down the street into the sewage drain. EPA? OSHA? Never heard of them.
