Ask a recent customer about Tom Curren Companies and the owner's name comes up unprompted — reviewers describe Tom Curren personally checking on foundation plantings after an exterior staining job, meeting clients before a painting project starts, and standing behind work well after it's finished. The Auburndale company holds an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license and has carried an A+ grade with the Better Business Bureau since it was accredited there in 2007. The work that keeps coming up lately is substantial: a full 1950s bathroom gut renovation with custom fixture selection, a structural wall removal and steel beam installation to open up a kitchen and dining area, and a new garage built from planning through completion with named project managers steering the process. Interior and exterior painting shows up just as often — crews handling a whole-house repaint, wallpaper installation, and rotted trim repair before priming. When a set of custom kitchen cabinet drawer pullouts failed more than a year after installation, the company came back and fixed it at no charge. That pattern, paired with a 4.5-star average across 139 Google ratings and a Houzz reviewer's note about "meticulous quality," points to a crew that treats a callback as part of the job. Three recent low-star reviews are worth knowing about before you call. One customer says the company turned down their project because it wasn't a large enough renovation to be worth their time. Another was told a quote required an in-person meeting with every adult in the household present, a condition the reviewer pushed back on. A third described an early sales conversation as dismissive. None of these describe finished work gone wrong — they're about who the company chooses to work with and how the front end of the process runs. For a full bathroom or kitchen remodel, a whole-house paint job, or carpentry work with an owner willing to show up in person, Tom Curren Companies has a deep record that's mostly positive. If your project is small or your schedule is tight, ask upfront how they size up jobs and handle quoting, since that's where the friction shows up.

They showed up on time and ready to go, a crew of three guys were able to complete all the rooms in just one day! Working with their scheduling team and their planning team was easy. Will deffinetly contact the next time my organization needs painting done

I had an unpleasant experience after connecting with one of their senior consultants. It was clear to me, I was definitely not worth their time. Very bizarre experience from the start.

In April my husband and I decided that the exterior of our house needed a refresh. The foundation, doors, basement windows, handrails needed to be painted along with some minor repairs. We had used Curren services years ago to redo our bathroom and were very satisfied with the work so contacted them again. Project consultant Peter Woods came and did a very thorough review of what we needed, including taking pictures. We received a detailed job estimate promptly which we accepted. In June we received a late afternoon phone call asking if there was any way that the project could start the following day. Luckily that worked and the crew was here promptly the next morning. Mark the project manager walked around the house with us to reconfirm the work that needed to be done. Then Eli and two painters got right to work, worked the entire day, and got a great deal accomplished. There was some confusion the following morning since we expected the crew to be here early again, but after a late morning phone call to Peter things got back on track. The entire project was almost completed on the second day. Texts from Mark were very helpful. There was one addtional project that was added on and Mark came on a Saturday to get it done. We were very pleased with the quality of work and responsiveness of Curren staff and would highly recommend them for any project.

Exterior of house was prepped and oiled last summer, our second time with Tom's team. During the process, we had some issues with foundation plantings. Tom, himself, came by to have a closer look and assured us any concerns would be addressed. This spring, all issues had resolved themselves and, once again, Tom came by to make sure we were completely satisfied.

I hired Tom Curren Companies to paint the exterior of my house. I am very pleased with the result. They did good carpentry work wherever the trim or siding had rotted. Then they did a nice professional job priming and painting the house. Communication was excellent, starting with a very detailed evaluation of the house and proposal. The crew were polite and efficient during the job. I would hire them again!
