Trahant Roofing is a Lynn, MA outfit that says it's been putting on roofs since 1920, now run by Ken and Bill Trahant with crews large enough to strip and reshingle a house in under a day. On Reddit, one North Shore homeowner summed it up as "incredibly expensive, but the gold standard for speed and quality" — and a lot of the reviews back that up on installation day. A string of five-star reviews from 2021 through 2026 describes the same thing: a crew of fifteen to twenty people arriving on schedule, tearing off and replacing a roof in four to six hours, and leaving the property spotless. An April 2026 review described a 19-person crew with six trucks finishing in six hours; a May 2024 review said Trahant finished a roof and a chimney in just four hours. In a 2023 review, a homeowner whose roof was actually damaged by a subcontractor's poor venting work said Trahant fixed it within days at no charge, calling it "above and beyond." The trouble shows up after the crew leaves. An April 2026 review said a great-looking install led to rampant attic mold within two months, after Trahant removed rafter-bay vents during the job and didn't put them back; another, from October 2024, said the company left the house damaged and stopped returning calls. A March 2022 review described being told over the phone that a leak was "the siding, not the roof" with no inspection, then getting no follow-up for weeks. Porch's page for the company describes a similarly detailed 2024 complaint: reused weather stripping, a misaligned drip edge, eight months of unanswered requests for a site visit, and an inspector who reportedly checked the wrong house. The Better Business Bureau gives the company an F/D- grade, citing a failure to respond to three complaints, and OSHA records show it was cited for a willful, a repeat, and three serious workplace-safety violations, with a separate inspection logged at a Peabody worksite. BuildZoom's directory also lists six Massachusetts license records for the company, three of them marked cancelled, alongside one home improvement contractor registration it shows as active. Trahant is a reasonable pick for speed and a big, experienced crew on a straightforward tear-off-and-reshingle job — but the pattern of unanswered calls when something goes wrong afterward is real and recent enough that it's worth asking, before signing, exactly who to call and what happens if an issue turns up after the truck leaves.
“Trahant ia incredibly expensive, but the gold standard for speed and quality in that part of the North Shore.”
“Trahant.”
“William Trahant, Jr. Construction, Inc. was cited by OSHA for one willful, one repeat and three serious violations of workplace safety and health standards.”
“OSHA's data website indicates that OSHA conducted another previous inspection of a Peabody, Massachusetts worksite of Trahant Roofing, Jr. Construction, Inc.”
I had roof installed by Trahant at the end of the summer they did a great job was very pleased and price was right. But buyer beware. After two months I had rampant mold growth in th attic mind you my old roof was 30 years old and we had them replace some boards do to darkening of the wood. That took 30 years to happen. The issue is vents that are put in each rafter bay. They cost like 1.00 a piece and they didn’t put them back after they took out the boards and said they aren’t needed. Well after much research they are needed Casie we got massive mold growth in two months I had mold remediation expert come out they said the venting isn’t right and they couldn’t even kill the mold Cause it’s embed in the wood. Now the entire front roof needs to be replaced the back is fine because all vents are still there and now trahanr is ignoring phone calls texts saying it’s not there Prb and not willing to do anything. I have an 87 yo living with me and the mold has been so bad for her. I would have normally recommended but run far away from them
Trahant Roofing just replaced our roof and I can’t say enough about them. They arrived when they said they would, they came with a team of 19, 6 trucks, their own disposal process and completed our roof replacement in 6 hours!!! They have been in business since November 1, 1920 and are GAF certified as well They were organized; everyone had a role and they worked together very well. What surprised me was at a break, management (who also worked on the roof) had left and returned with boxes of Joe serving their team, some donuts and muffins…they care about their employees. They worked efficiently and carefully, nailing every shingle in place, until the new roof was completed. They meticulously cleaned up all areas around the house, leaving no roofing materials anywhere. I will say they left all areas looking better than they were. I received a follow up call to discuss the roof services. I highly recommend Trahant Roofing if you need your roof replaced! I’m sharing some pics before and after and including the mess the old roof made and how it looked after they cleaned it up. The new roof pic shows how well the clean up actually was! Thank you again Trahant, Valerie Santoro
