Van Floor Services is a flooring contractor working out of Dorchester, with just two reviews to its name — one glowing, one not. The positive one, from 2023, describes Van doing hardwood floor refinishing and a new floor installation, calling the work fast, careful, and well done. The 2025 review tells a different story: new vinyl plank flooring that sinks when walked on, a kitchen floor with corners that look water-damaged from a poor install, and a quote for another room that changed after the fact, along with a complaint about rudeness toward family members present during the work. With only two reviews to go on, it's hard to say which account is more typical. Ask to see recent, in-person work before committing, and get any pricing in writing up front.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Van Floor Services. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Have worked with Van and his crew for my Mom house and mine. At my mom house his crew put in vinyl planks. Part of the floor sinks when walked on. His crew also had issues with my mom and brother watching while they worked. He also quoted my mom a price for another room and changed his quote when it was time to get it done. He was also rude to my Mom. At my house, he did my kitchen floor and in the corners there are spots that look like water because it wasn't done right. Also I referred him to m a family member who had 7 rooms to do. Van told me he would do my hallway and kitchen for free for the referral and redo my living room which was peeling due to his advice that bamboo could be gone over with polyurethane. Then he claims I should've sanded it but told me not too at the time because it would change the color. He said he would do a lite sanding and redo the polyurethane. On the day he was to do my hallway and kitchen for free and redo the livingroom, after he did the hallway and kitchen, he called to ask about payment because I wasn't home. He knew it was supposed to be done free and tried getting money from my husband. He also didn't plan on redoing the livingroom that was peeling because he would've had to do that first based on the location and then the kitchen and hallway. So we went back and forth on the phone and he said he was leaving. I was on my way home and caught him as he was leaving and stopped him. He said he wasn't going to redo the livingroom. All I know is get things in writing if you deal with him, because he will change things up and act as if you are the one that is crazy. He is not a man of integrity. I told him I would never allow him back in my home and I would I ever recommend him to anyone else. He doesn't do equal quality work, when he works in certain neighborhoods. What he did at my house, he would not have done in Wellesley.
Van was fast, friendly and easy to work with, and most important, the job was done well with care, installed new floor and refinished old hardwood floors very well. Highly recommend him.
