Viking Fuel

Viking Fuel is a Norwich heating oil company whose owner, Dave Spurgas, has told a local paper that people have been using their oil until June in recent years. Its own site says it handles home fuel delivery and burner service for Bozrah, CT and the surrounding areas, and claims over 30 years of experience. A 2024 customer whose family woke up to a freezing house said they could not reach their own oil company or five others, but Viking answered, and within an hour of the call the furnace was on and the tank full. That 2024 customer said the person who came also turned the furnace back on. A 2026 customer who ran out of oil on a cold night said they delivered within 2 hours. A 2026 customer who called on a Friday for a Monday delivery said the company came on Sunday instead, as a snowstorm moved in. In a 2022 review, a customer said the owner himself delivered at 10:30 after an 8:30 call the Monday after a blizzard, with the path to the fuel line still unshoveled. That 2022 customer also said there was no service department for an inspection, and they were given a number for a tech. A 2022 customer who moved to Connecticut from Alaska in 2019 said the company had delivered on holidays, and that when a driver failed to stop by before a storm, one man came to the house at night to make sure they had oil. A 2025 customer who tried to order oil as a Christmas gift said the receptionist would not deliver it because the order was too small. In a 2022 review, a customer out of heat at 3:30 said they were told the drivers had gone home, described the employee and the manager as disrespectful, and added that the owner called at 6am the next day to yell at them for the review.
